Hey, your a day early! Not that I mind at all
Well depends on how you look at it. I really had hoped to be up first week of Sept. But the TelCo and ISP shot that all to bits.
I know I'm gonna be busy tomorrow. So thought what the hey.

Ya'll are just mad 'cause it's harder to instantly kill. Heven forbid that ShockHos can't dominate a map now.

I would say that this is a good connection. Now get a '99 UT server on it.

fileplanet is lame and I don't feel like waiting an hour to dl a map... especially since IF the server would let me finish a map dl it would take about 30 minutes. . . .

Google them...FP is just a place to start. Most of them are on Planetunreal.com. I have them all zipped up but its 360Mb. If you have a place to upload to. I'll be happy to send it to you. Mail or PM me with the addy.
Great Ping
Kinda nice when you're only 45 miles from the server and staying with only one TelCo network. UT99 is on it, all I gotta do is double click.

OK - I downloaded like a bazillion mongobytes of the above UT2K3 maps, mods, music, meshes, textures, and other super-techie computer stuff and have tried the server a few times, but there's never anyone on it. Anyone else ever play there? If so, do you experience UT2K3 crashes while playing?

Been there. I wonder if you have had a problem with CTF-DeepSprinta? For me it hangs in the load screen needing a force quit to get out. I've also had a problem getting on the server if I am using the MasterChief model. Other than that I haven't run into many problems. Occasionally get droped. All the usual UT things.

Yes, Dana, homemade maps cause crashes for me sometimes.
How do you install MapVote? Just add the lines to the .ini, after copying the files to the System? Will that do it?
Well, I went to the server but couldn't get a bot game started. Just sat there with a "Fire to view from another player" msg onscreen. Hmmm, I hadn't hit the Spectate button.

I just put the appropriate Mapvote file in my ~/Library/Application Support/Unreal Tournament 2003/System folder (I have folders there for all the downloaded maps and other add-ons, too) and let the game update my .ini file when I join the server. I had that spectator-only problem also, but I assumed it was because I hadn't yet downloaded and installed the CUT2 stuff or the extra models. After I grabbed the remaining files (but not all the maps - I couldn't find all of them) I went back in and all was well, expect I haven't seen another human there yet. Perhaps the crashes aren't any more frequent than my UTX crashes, but at least those never force me to reboot. I've had two 2K3 crashes now that have completely wedged my poor old Dual 500 G4 and I had to push the reset button to reboot. I guess it's still true that where there's software there's bugs...

Re: It's Up...It's Here...Enjoy the UT2K3 Goodness!
Missed us Friday, Flea, Doc and I were on for a couple hours. The weaning process from UT99 is slow sorry.
I've had strangeness too, and I'm on a PC. So you're not alone. Now I haven't had a lock up yet. Esc out and reconnecting (once, twice, three times) normally works. One thing to keep in mind is the server it's self. I wish I could've used a 3.2Ghz P4 with a Gig of ram. What I did use is a Dell Inspiron 8100 1Ghz P3m & 512Mb ram. Well all need to be a little patient with the ol' gal. It switches maps slow and takes a bit to start a game.
Problems & Solutions:
Black screen, eternal connection message.
Server is in the middle of "something". Most likely a map switch. Wait a couple minutes and try again and again and again. Once it took me 6 tries, but I did get in. I didn't wait the couple minutes, just kept hitting connect.
Spec only mode:
This happened to me when Doc and Flea were on a 1V1 map.
The server is set to use map defaults for number of players. If a map is set only for 2 players, it's only going to let 2 on. I'll fix this in the config.

Re: It's Up...It's Here...Enjoy the UT2K3 Goodness!
Thanks for all of your hard work, Levi. I'm looking forward to seeing some of me mates there, as opposed to meeting someone named *&^$# (expletive deleted) on some public server.
Dana, wow, I'm sorry. I've had UT2k3 crash several times online, and been disconnected unexpectedly from servers, but I've never had the misfortune to have it bring down the whole OS. That sux (and scares me, as other game- related system crashes have destroyed data back in the OS 9 days).
Guess I'll have to look for CUT2 map pack now. Can't find it at NaliCity or Fileplanet. Also, anyone have a link to the Master Chief model; I'm still searching.
Hold on, I waited in line at FilePlanet for the Mega Map Pack and it's an .exe file? How do you run the .exe?

Hope its just a self-extracting zip and open it with stuff it.
Otherwise you're screwed without VPC or a real PC.

Re: It's Up...It's Here...Enjoy the UT2K3 Goodness!
Well, I actually saw Doc.B on the Llev's server the other day and had a good batch of games with no problems, so maybe things have settled down. Hmmmm... I'm heading to the Apple store this coming Friday to pick up a copy of Panther, but I'm sure that won't have any significant affect on my UT2K3 performance... Hmmmm... May need to keep the G5 on my Christmas list.... Hmmmm...
BTW - Thanks, Llev! It's great to have a 2K3 server where there are actually people I know, even though I can't fully experience the game with my current hardware. Hopefully bigger crowds will develop over time. There's just that problem of switching back to UT and not being able to double-jump. I love the double-jump!

Re: It's Up...It's Here...Enjoy the UT2K3 Goodness!
OMG, Wang the Unholy is back in town. WB, brudda.
Now, all I"ve got to get are:
CUT2 map pack
Master Chief Model
does anyone have any links to these files?
Otherwise you're screwed without VPC or a real PC.
Thanks Odin, VPC did the trick. It's all DM maps, correct? Neat thing about VPC: making a Duplicate of my C:\ drive .vpc6 file, if Windows hoses itself, as is its wont, I just delete the original, rename the Duplicate .vpc6 file, and Bang! Windows is fixed! I bet that's why M$ bought the software! I used it at work last week, and it works like a charm.

Should I remove the Master C? Let me know.
BTW folks since we're not really running CUT2, a bit buggy. It's not required. Maybe some time in the future. I would at least get the CUT2 Map pack. Some of those do show up in play.
Peace
