Way to go Apple. But WHat I want to know is what audio format is iTunes supporting on the PC? AAC? or WMA?

AAC, for sure. It would have to be a format which works on the iPod, and I doubt Apple would turn their backs on AAC just to appeal to Microsoft and the spread of WMA. Apple wants people to use open and accessible standards, which means MP3 and AAC.

Re: iTunes for Windows!!
smurf WMA.
Although, lack of it may make Windows-centric morons shy away.

Well now I understand Jobs said iTunes for Windows is "the best windows app ever written".
It has to be. Didn't Microsoft at one point decided to not include support for MP3 when the were creating Windows XP, but they eventually gave in to public pressure. Windows doesn't support AAC, so how Apple is getting it to play has to be some great feat. Also I love the fact that it has the same features as the iTunes Mac.
I can hear PC users now..."Hey, if Apple can make things this simple and intuitive, maybe I should look into buying a Mac"

Re: iTunes for Windows!!
Well it is the "gateway" product / software Apple needed, people will consider an iPod to use on their pc, then eventualy maybe want a Mac, maybe we will see iMovie, iPhoto for PC next?

Re: iTunes for Windows!!
Is there a new Mac version today? I hope so. I'm in the mood to download something that can potentially destroy my hard drive.

Re: iTunes for Windows!!
iTunes for Windows is the sort of parity and equality the tech world sorely needs. Both versions accessing the same servers for the store. Both versions with the same features and supporting the same formats. No crippled or ridiculously outdated crap a la Windows Media Player for Mac just because the app is appearing on the competing platform. Apple gets it.

There's four important distinctions you're failing to make, though; 1) RealPlayer wasn't a fully functional jukebox for audio until recently 2) it costs money to get the full featured RealPlayer 3) RealPlayer has always sucked, and continues that proud tradition to this very day and 4) *vomits*

Just wait until the special event is over. Then Apple will refresh everything with the new goodies.
