when does S@H end? Do we start over for BOINC?
The latest articles posted on the s@h site are indicating that they're "close", so I'm predicting within the next 2-4 months. They are indicating that BOINC will start accepting (non-beta) signups before they shut off s@h 1, so there'll be some overlap. Everyone will start out at zero with BOINC, although I read somewhere that they will keep the old stats "somewhere" so you can go look at them. I'm too lazy to check right now, but some recent information is available from SETI@home. Check out the "News" section on the right side of the page.
Depending on when the switchover actually starts, I will probably stay with the current CLI if I think I can reach 99% or my 5000 badge before they pull the plug (although the latter is not very likely).
Along with that, I will have to see how the new BOINC CLI client works, to see if I will need / want to modify my current caching scripts, or let the new client manage the caching & multi-threading for my dual-CPU G4. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like my older (OS 9) Mac will be able to join, at least to start.
