Best Music of 2003?
I'm going to throw out a vote for the White Stripes' Elephant. Between that and White Blood Cells of 2002, its the freshest rock and roll in a long time, even though it does rely on old influences.
Any other nominations?
Suck it, Trebeck!!

Iron Maiden's Dance of Death kicks ass. My friend got it for free. Some dude at FYE just gave it to him.

in my opinion...absolutely nothing else released this year can touch The Mars Volta's De-Loused In The Comatorium.

Re: Best Music of 2003?
How about A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay, O by Damian Rice, or A New Day at Midnight by David Gray - all amazing albums. Not sure if a rush of blood to the head was released this year
, but then I only bought it this year so to me its a 2003 album.

Dave Matthews Band - Some Devil
Wasn't "Some Devil" his solo project? I haven't gotten to give it a listen yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Especially considering Trey Anastasio from Phish is on there jammin' with him as well.
Anyway, I'm predictable, you guys know I'd say Five Iron Frenzy's "The End Is Near" is probably the most well-rounded, intelligent disc released this year. They won't win any real awards with it though, thus reinforcing their lil underground status.
And I wish I've been able to give the entire disc of Barenaked Ladies' "Everything To Everyone" a good listen to give my official opinion on it, but, meh. Don't know, so I won't say.
Spirit was crushed; now is fading, But I want to help make things right.
Because I can see and I can feel, and you can see and you can feel
So why don't we both either stand up and fight
Or at least together we'll call it a night.

If you're talking about the best album of 2003, then I would say the Kill Bill soundtrack, although some of the songs on it are pretty old.

I'm with ya there. That's a sweet album. I also like Counting Crow's remake of Big Yellow Taxi.

Best comp is warped tour's soundtrack.
The Matrix Reloaded wins best soundtrack.
White Stirpes do get my vote, but I need to pick up Anti-Flag's new one to see who wins.
EDIT: Holy crap, how could I forget NOFX's War On Errorism!

Not Outkast's speakerboxx, but the love below.
Elvis Costello - North
Peter Cincotti - Self-Titled
If any Algorithm album came out this year, then that should be on there too.
I'm on a bit of chill music kick

Re: Best Music of 2003?
King Crimson - "The Power to Believe"
(perhaps their best record since Discipline?).
Tomahawk - "Mit Gas"
(even better than their debut album).
The Fire Theft - (self-titled)
(took some getting used to but it's great. remember, it's NOT SDRE).
Deftones - (selt -titled)
(like all deftones records, it feels like it's almost there but this one is closer than their previous efforts).
Steve Reich - Three Tales (at least the music is good. Korot's visual work was quite disappointing).
