In addition to my earlier vote for "Some Devil - Dave Matthews" I have to give huge props to:

AFI - Sing the Sorrow.  Damn this album rocks my socks.

Re: Best Music of 2003?

Audioslave's "Like a stone" is pretty damn good. Some other ones too that I can't remember right now....oh yeah...."Gasonline" and "exploder".

Strokes new "Room on Fire" is okay....I think i like the original a bit better though.

Another awesome CD- The hybrid Disco/metal group "Electric Six". Their song
"Danger! HIGH VOLTAGE" Has gotta be one of the catchiest songs this year. Pretty damn good stuff.

Re: Best Music of 2003?

I am going to pick a song from the Kill Bill Vol. 1 soundtrack: "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" by Santa Esmeralda.

Too bad the iTunes Music Store does not sell the Kill Bill soundtrack, because I would link it to you.

Other albums: Annie Lennox: Bare
Paul van Dyk: Nothing But You (Maxi) (not on iTunes)
Madonna: American Life (not on iTunes)

Re: Best Music of 2003?

Tomahawk - "Mit Gas"
(even better than their debut album).

definitely good!

Let's not forget
Johnny Cash - American IV
Dandy Warhols - Welcome to the Monkey House
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Take them on, On your own
Big Sandy and Fly Rite Boys - It's Time
Anthrax - We've come for you all
ZZ Top - Mescalaro (some really good songs, some dudes, we'll count it)

there are a bunch of new albums that recently came out that i haven't gotten to buy yet, too so this list could get longer....

Re: Best Music of 2003?

just thought everyone would care, but i made a smart playlist in itunes:
date is 2003
recently played is not in the last 20 days
limit it to 25 songs
put er on shuffle, and you got yerself a nice mix.

Uh, I'm going to have to take back any albums I just mentioned.

Let's just set this straight. Dave Matthews isn't the best of this category. He isn't the best of anything. And he never will be! :pukeondmb:

Re: Best Music of 2003?

I got a few more to add. KMFDM's WWIII is incredible. If you like industrial and/or metal, get it. NOW! Also, Steve Burns (yes, Steve from Blue's Clues) cut an album called Songs for Dustmites. It's quality. I love it. up

Dave Matthews is best at being a stoner with an annoying voice who is the least talented member of his band
