Network File Searching Utility
Does anyone know if anything like this exists, i mean like an equivalent to the PC sharescan or aim at file.
these programs allow the user to search for a specific file on all computers on a local network, they're really useful, but i cannot seem to get a hold of one for the mac.
help please![/url]

I don't know those PC programs, but "Find File" or "Sherlock", which are built into various versions of MacOS, will let you search networked computers. Be sure to mount the volumes before you start the search.

Re: Network File Searching Utility
well, yes, thank you. but what's so cool about those pc programs is that you dont actually have to mount the drives, it just maps out all local computers, and then you search through all the files it finds....

The "Classic" MacOS had something called "Network Browser"
maybe that would do it?
