Re: Finished my first protein

Alright Chewie, the protein I was working on I sent in this morning. I never looked up how much it was worth, so in a few hours I am going to start checking the stats pages.

*crosses fingers*

too slow, i checked first big_smile

youre now about 7 points ahead of me, but i will be finishing a unit tonight. that will bring me closer to the winning position, but not enough. hehe, still up for grabs. its all about who finishes the next unit first big_smile

(/me cant wait to get home and boot into x again big_smile (oh well, at least my comp is doing seti units now wink tongue) )

Re: Finished my first protein

Jedi,
I am 52% thru what I guess is a big one. The problem now is that I think the 200 spot is a moving target. I just hope we can catch them. big_smile

Re: Finished my first protein

Have you reported this issue on the Folding Forums, JKC? I'm sure Adam would like to get some details from you.

I posted the same issue a few weeks back but no workarounds or solutions came up.

208!! I was 206 a day or two ago, but I am going backwards. Chewie, I hope you can get your system straightened out, it's no fun racing without you.

Re: Finished my first protein

ok, thats it, im going back to graphical

im still on this same protien madmadmad

ive lost several hundred frames (ill get a couple hundred done, and then they evaporate, this last time i had about 50 out of 400 left, and i had to resetart for my bro, and all my hard work died.) on this one unit, so im going back, its really not worth the speed diff that the commandline offers.

Re: Finished my first protein

Chewie, good news for you. My laptop hasn't been able to boot into X for at least a week. Thus I lost what I was doing plus I haven't been able to do any folding this week. sad  I am hoping to get it running again this weekend, but I am unsure I will find the time (and more importantly, all the discs I need to reinstall). The folding gods must be big_smile in your direction.

Re: Finished my first protein

eek  eek  eek  eek  eek

ive been watching the page for the last almost week wating for you to send in the unit you were working on, cause i knew you had to be close to finishing it.

im 93% done with a unit that will put me 7 points from 200 spot, so i still have another to go after this one.

dang, and i was so sure you had me 0wned after all my command line probls tongue

well then, well see what happens now

Re: Finished my first protein

UPDATE:

place/name/points:

209 / JediKnightChewie / 79.49

215 / Halbie / 71.28

200 / Minitrue / 89.1

if halbie can finish a 20 unit (which is what ive been getting a lot of latley) before the 200 spot too far then he wins, if not ill probably win when i finish my unit i started last night (although because i only have my comp on in x when im home (security reasons mostly) i get about 10% a day usually)

ITS NOT OVER YET!!!

Re: Finished my first protein

Oh, you're in trouble now.
Thanks to your pressure, I reinstalled Jaguar this evening and I can finally boot into X again. I am now folding again.
My new computer had distracted me from fixing my laptop, but now I am "back in the game"
I will now prepare to have my arms ripped off. smile
Good luck!

p.s. I never thought that this silly race would be so much fun. Maybe you others should consider it. Keeps you focused and amused.

I just started, and have a question...

What setup do you use (software not hardware)?

Re: Finished my first protein

I use the "graphical client". I am not sure if this is the question you are asking. Many others use the "command line" version (it is supposed to quicker) but the graphical one has never failed me. Plus it has pretty pictures. Well, not pretty but imformative. Well, not imformative but....it has pictures!!!!!

Re: Finished my first protein

Maybe.....and I mean maybe....you could "educate" your father in the fact that the computer itself doesn't use much power....it's the monitor that's the power hog.

But alas I remember how "educating" parents always turned out for me sad

Re: Finished my first protein

heh, and i turn off the monitor every time i walk away from the computer for that very reason.

shrug

trying to educate him wouldnt be wise. neither of my parents have been to wookiee friendly latley, its really just best for me to run and hide and comply to the demands for now.

and anyways, i wouldnt want to insult their intelligence. both of them insist they know more about computers then me, so i find it best to sit back in silence and humor them.

anyways, this gives halbie more of a chance to catch up, makes it more intresting big_smile

Finally, the money I am paying your parents is paying off.  big_smile
It seems at every turn one of us has run into a roadblock, only to have the other one run into a larger roadblock.
If I can't win this in the next 8 days, then I go on vacation and probably won't do any folding. sad
Although I will be on vacation.  big_smile
Now I must crush you. tongue

Yeah, you will get some that take even longer than that. At times I get impatient but then remeber that the longer it takes, the higher the "point" total. I do wish I could get some quick ones though. My attention span isn't what it it used to.... hey look, a birdie. Here birdie, birdie, birdie.
