Printing in Panther
Ok, so I love Panther so far, but a major-ish problem I've been having is that I can't print! My Epson 740 shows up in my printer list, but when I try to print something, it shows me the progress bar of the pages printed, but my printer just sits there. My computer seems to think it printed ok, but I am not so convinced.
Anyway, I think it might have to do with the new GIMP printer drivers.. Has anyone else had any problems with it?

Re: Printing in Panther
Why are you using GIMP drivers for a 740? It should work fine with native Epson drivers.

Re: Printing in Panther
I was using GIMP drivers because that is how it came up originally in my Printer List and that was the only option I had for Epson. But now (for some mysterious reason) it just says Epson Color 740, and it works! So, I guess I am using the Epson drivers now.

Re: Printing in Panther
There are two ways to add a printer in Panther. When adding a printer you can select Epson USB to use the Epson Driver. If you select USB from the drop down list you'll get the Gimp-print driver.
Gimp-print is nice. I was using it under 10.2 and postscript printing to my Epson Stylus Color 777 was wonderful. Fast and detailed with full great postscript rendering.
Mine shows up as Stylus COLOR 777 in both cases, but has a different icon for each version.
Oh, don't know if you know, but you can go to http://localhost:631 to easily set up the defaults on that printer.

Re: Printing in Panther
I have a stylus photo 2200 and had GIMP drivers a couple moths ago because Epson's drivers stunk when I bought it over a year ago.
However, I upgraded to Epson drivers and the worked great. Even rendered the color much better. The reason I am saying this is that perhaps the latest 740 drivers from Epson might work better for you. I think it's worth a try. Definitely read the directions. You may have to add a printer with the advanced add (option-click add printer). The previous poster was correct that if you have a USB printer then you must add it from the Epson USB list and not the USB list.
