Next Imac revision what's in store
With the next imac revision supposedly there will be a significant form change what do you expect as a result of this? The only improvement that i would like would be a tad more expandability. I own the 17" and the monitor is amazing so i don't see apple moving away from the lcd monitors. So what kind of new form factor do you expect and what will it bring.

Uhm I don't think they have had the new iMac long enough to drastically change it.

What's an Imac?
Did you mean iMac?
Maybe low end G5.....but not for a year or more.
Maybe slightly redsigned cases.
No more 15" screen

Yes there are rumors that a new iMac design is being developed. Who knows when we will see it though. The AlBook rumors came about a year and a half before it was released.
I really hope they bring back the Cube.

When G6 procs are in Towers a G5 in an iMac is not such a stretch. People said that there would never be G4s in iMacs too

Could there be an "iMac Pro" in the works? Which will have a 1.6 or 1.8 G5 processor and a 19 or 20 inch display?

Yes, yes naturally there will be a G45 in iMacs, but remember how long it took for iMacs to get a G4!

Perhaps dsspence3's creative spelling referred to the actual revision - the next version will have the same specs, but will have the spelling changed to "Imac."

But you are forgetting that the FP iMac shared the G4 with the PowerMac at one point in time. There is no reason why a G5 cannot be put in the iMac while the PowerMac also has a G5.

Good job killing a joke. We mustn't have any levity in the revision threads...

iMac = CONSUMER
PowerMac = PRO
The specs for the iMac will always increase with each new revision. The iMac will never have as much power as an existing PowerMac model as it would take away from Apple's PowerMac sales.

I am not forgetting but I do belive that Apple will really try to stay firm to the proc differentiation between Pro and consumer lines. They had both of those on G4s because they had no other choice and the clock was ticking. Now with IBMs timeline they will have some serious choices which is good for everybody

Re: Next Imac revision what's in store
I think Apple will ditch 32 bit as soon as feasible, including notebooks. This may mean a modified processor design to bring down costs, heat, etc., but it will happen. The pro laptop market won't tolerate 64 bit applications that are unbearable or cannot run on their laptops. Once a laptop chip is made the iMac is a no brainer. Rumors are spreading that such a chip is being tested already.

Remember how the G3 imac changed a little when it went 333 to 350?
maybe this imac design change will just be a little change. Still very similar, but different.

Re: Next Imac revision what's in store
You see, they could both have a G5, there still is major definition between the iMac and the towers, such as expandability and hard drive space, RAM and things. I suspect that if the iMac does not get a G5, it will move to dual G4 processors, with some innovative cooling technology.

Funny. I was staring in the last Star Wars movie. Staring at my watch, the chair back in front of me, everything except the screen. God, it sucked.
