Clearing autocomplete address bar in Safari?

I can't seem to clear the autocomplete address bar in Safari.  I've cleared the history and the cache.  But it still starts completing addresses as I type them with sites that match what I'm typing.  And what's weird is, the sites are some that I know I haven't been to in months or just went to one time.

How do I get rid of this (clear them out and turn that function off)?

LOL.  Honestly, that's not the problem.  It's just annoying and I don't understand how to fix it.

Safari will auto-complete any address that's in your bookmarks, regardless of whether you put them there yourself.

If you edit the bookmarks to get rid of the extraneous links that you don't need, it should go away.

Re: Clearing autocomplete address bar in Safari?

I hate the autocomplete!

Let's say that you've been to

http://slashdot.org/articles/03/11/03/1 … mp;tid=187

But now you try going to

http://slashdot.org

The damnable autocomplete will throw up the first link, and unless you hit backspace before hitting enter, it'll take you there instead of the desired slashdot.org.  Annoying.

That, and when you are showing somebody a webpage on your computer and go to type it in, porno links show up.  eek

Safari Menu -> Preferences -> Autofill

Edit as desired.  smile
