Importing addresses into Mail

I have a mailing list (in MS Word) of all the e-mail addresses in our organization.  The list is comma deliniated. How can I import this list into my Mac's Address book without copying and pasting all 120 names and addresses? shrug

Re: Importing addresses into Mail

Well there might be an easier way, but assuming you have 'Entourage', here' a way...

In Word, go 'View -->Toolbars-->Contact' so your MS Office Addess Book is displayed as a Toolbar for easy access.

Highlight each email address and hit 'Add' on the Contact toolbar that just was added.  Then hit 'Add' again.  Now that email address is added your MS Office Address Book.  Repeat 120 odd times.

After you're done, open up the Applescript 'Import Addresses.scpt' (from /Applications/Applescript/Example Scripts/Address Book Scripts which is also the same path as Hard Drive/Library/Scripts/Address Book Scripts given the alias)...

The file will open up in Script Editor.  Then 'File-->Save As' Choose 'Application' in the pull-down menu and save where you like.  When you run the Script, it'll ask you if you want to import the addresses you just added to Entourage (i.e. the MS Office Address Book).

You may want to run the script after adding a few addresses just to see if it works. big_smile

The possible benefit of this extra work would be that you'd have your comma delineated list in both address books on your computer with easy access in the future as a vCard via Address Book...  And if you ever use Office-related apps, those addresses will be available to you...
