Quadra 950 help
i own a Quadra 950 that i haven't been able to play around with very much. I wanted to see if i could make use of the monitor by connecting my Nintendo 64 (i know, i know) through the quadra. The quadra has two ports on the back, most often found on VCRs and TVs. The red and white ports. I'm assuming these are the same as on a TV, audio and video for connecting various things in.
ANyways, if i want to run something through the 950 like a VCR, or a DVD player, or a game system, do i need any special software? If not, how can i access that video and sound coming in?
THanks in advance,

Re: Quadra 950 help
Nope. Red and White are L and R Audio (or R and L?) - video is yellow.
I did what you're talking about with a 6220CD. I'm sure there's some way to do it with a Q950, I just haven't even met the equipment. AV Macs, 660 or 840, will do it - they have video in built in.

Re: Quadra 950 help
well i connected the game system, and turned it on. Nothing happens.
I can't find anything in the control panels or anything else that might have to do with running the video on the monitor. I got this computer from a school, so I don't have much experience using this quadra.

Re: Quadra 950 help
I did the same thing with my Quadra 840AV a while back. You need to use the Apple Video Player program to use the AV in ports. You launch that program and then it should come up with the video. You also need to set the "sound-in" or "input" to use the AV ports. That should be in the sound control panel.
Hope this helps!

Nothing should be happening - As I mentioned previously, red and white are audio (audio = sound, those are RCA jacks, btw) If you want to get video in, you need a yellow one, but you said you don't have one, so you can't do it. Hooking a video cable up to the audio in ports won't fry anything, but it's not going to work, either.
