B&W G3 wont sleep
When I put my B&W G3 into sleep mode the monitor light turns amber but the G3 light stays green. It sounds like the G3 is still running. My 350 iMac shuts down completley and the light flashes amber when in sleep mode. Is there a way to fix this?

Re: B&W G3 wont sleep
Unless I'm mistaken, regardless of model, the hard drive and fans should spin down, so, if it sounds like it's still running, then it probably is. Even my old S900 spins down.
Have you installed any new PCI cards lately? Ever since I installed a Sonnet USB/Firewire card, my G4 won't sleep properly, either, at least not in OS X.The hard drives spin down, and the screen goes to sleep, but the fans keep going.
All posts on the internet are postfixed by an invisible "IMHO". It's not in the html code, either.

Re: B&W G3 wont sleep
Its a used system I just got awhile ago. Now that you mention it, it sounds like the hard drive is spinning down and the fan is still running.

I'm not normally one to bring posts back from the dead, but I could really use an answer for this myself.

Re: B&W G3 wont sleep
I've always had trouble with the Sleep Mode so I just don't ever use it. I had trouble with a 7200, PowerComputing PT225, B&W G3, QuickSilver G4. Someone hinted earlier that maybe a 3rd party PCI card might be the culprit which makes perfect sense for me since I've always run at least 2 monitors (currently running 4). I would recommend just not using it.
