I also remember the pre MS Hotmail - fast, easy; I still have an account there to collect spam, but moved my free mail activities to Lycos after MS ruined the best free mail on the web.

I like the change. But the only drawback? NO "Compose" area. Seems like I have to names in the address book in order to e-mail someone!

It is there. In the Mail tab, click "New", it's just under your name/address.

Hey! I'm a CANADIAN and I will never use HOTMAIL!.. There is many alternatives in Canada such as, Yahoo, iChat, iCQ, and dozens more messengers. I havent used Hotmail for 5 years and I used it for a short time because it was a pain in the ass. Those higher up a**holes from MICROSLOTH would send those messages saying they will delete you if you dont use it enough and send this message to people. I got tired of their bull so I went to a MAC site. I use Maclaunch, and .MAC.
You make it sound like in Canada we have nothing that Amereicans have!

but on the main page it doesnt tell you how many new emails you have..just how many are iny our junk folder and how many are from people you designaed in your contact list. which is about zero, because i dont trust thier spam filter, and i dont have people added to my special contact list..so i have to goto my inbox to see if i have new mail..
its just stupidly annoying to overlook that..
just click the inbox (or rather the "mail" tab) then add that page to your favorites...
this pissed me off for a bit too tho...
