Static doesn't work for my mac only PCs
For some reason I can't get a static IP to work with OSX. I'm trying to get it to stay on 192.168.1.100 so I can use port forwording however the only way i've gotten this to work is if I make all the other pcs static at .101 and .102 however this is raising problems and I'd like to set osx to be static but when I do I can't get to the net anymore.

I haven't tested this, but there is an option in OS-X.2.3 to use DHCP with a static ip. You may want to try it that way. If you use the full manual way make sure you are putting in a number for the router (same as default gateway on your pc's). If you don't have that correct then you won't get out to the net(wan).

I am not sure about statically doing DHCP, I don't think I have heard of this. But what do I know, I only casually come across this info
You could easily try manually assigning IP addresses too, no changing IP's there. It takes a bit more work, but you will have your desired results.

I hadn't either, but it's in the drop down menu in OS-X Network system preference. From what I can tell it allows you to put in a static ip address and it assigns the default gateway and masks.
For me, I would just do it manually as well.

Is it possible that .100 is in use?

Neither Manual nor static IP with DHCP work. I would think the numbers are wrong but they are what it detects if its in DHCP for some reason when I turn it to manual and type it in i can't connect to anything including the router (So its not a gateway issue)
