604e 233 upgrade question

Hi,

I am getting a 9500/150 computer for free, and have seen a 604e 233MHz processor card for sale. Now, if I want to have a 9500/233, can I just swap the processor cards? Or is it not that easy? confused

That's all I had to do to upgrade my dad's 7600 120 to a 135.

Re: 604e 233 upgrade question

I went to small dog and read I can upgrade a 9500/200 to a Sonnet Crescendo 500MHz/250/1MB G3 card PCI  is this possible.

Also what kind of RAM can I install and how the hell so I get the case to open? (aside from the case cover)

Re: 604e 233 upgrade question

Yes it's possible to upgrade a 9500/200 to a 500 MHz G3 or G4. You don't need new RAM, the upgrade replaces only your CPU.

You just pop the top, swap the CPU daughtercards, and go.

Although with a 9500 case, I hear it's a bit harder than that, but that's the fault of the case design, not the processor.
