The mormans are doing it too!
I got two mormans coming to my door week after week, spreading the word of jesus christ, do I look like I want that, answering the door in my what would buddha do shirt! But you couldn't tell I was buddhist by looking at me, im white, but still, have a little respect for my religion, and don't come into my house, next time I'll blast Cannibal Corpse and answer the door, or have I been babbling and mormans are the same as jehova's witnesses. I dunno, no offense to and mormans or j.w.'s. I DONT WANT THE WATCHTOWER!

I always politely invite them in, pretend to be interested, listen for hours, then, when it's dark and late, tell them I'm not convinced. It's like a gift I give to my neighbors. I think they're gonna canonize me in the cul de sac!

I hate people who try and spread religion. If someone wants to join your religion, they'll come to you. Unless someone's knocking on *your* door, leave us alone.

That's a good one. I avoid those Sears siding salesmen in the appliances department by telling them I rent.

Next time they come to your door, tell them they're blasphemous heathens who are surely going to hell.
Tell them that unless they repent and convert to (some other religion of your choosing), their souls are condemned to spend an eternity in great agony. Just before you close the door on them, add "I'll pray for you."

I've always wanted to tell them I'm Jewish, but I never remember to on those rare occasions that I actually see them.

That's a wonderful idea.

Hee hee. Good times.
What I enjoy is when someones trying to sell me a newspaper or a magazine over the phone. I'll listen for a while ask a few questions, and then inquire if they have a version in braille.

Re: The mormans are doing it too!
hehe, Ya missionaries annoy they hell out of me.
They are ignorant righteous young adults who help to strip the world of variety and culture. Moreover, 98% of these kids have never actually taken any time to put and serious critical thought into their beliefs. Most of them are handing out Watch Tower because their pears and family have guided them to do so.
And then there's the suit and bikes.... now that's just dorky.

Re: The mormans are doing it too!
If anyone is actually interested in the Church FKAM (Formerly Known As Mormon):
The film God's Army is a pretty good film depicting the Missionary experience. Made by a Mormon, it has a definite pro-LDS bias, but it's fun.
One thing to bear in mind is that most (85-95%?) college-age LDS males go on a two-year mission. This is not an elite team of ultra-believers at your door. These are two ordinary kids who may be away from home for the first time in their lives and are about average in terms of piety (with ordinary variation, of course). You'd be surprised how much of a difference you could make in their lives, for better or worse.
Having said that, does anyone have the right to come up to your door and take up your time without your consent? No. You may allow them to do so if you choose.
Am I a Latter-Day Saint? No. But I live in Utah, I know a lot of decent guys who served their Mission and, as we all do, continued to grow and mature thereafter. Talk to and listen to them with respect, and all three of you might leave the conversation a little bit wiser.

Re: The mormans are doing it too!
I live on a border city (still), so I ask them where they are from (and I can't blow it, they only show up once or twice a year), when they say the US (that's were they ALL come from), I say "oh, I'm sorry". OR I be nice to them... I don't waste their time, and tell them I'm not interested.
I don't think they venture much futher up north... never had one when I was away for two years living up further, and don't have friends that have mentioned it... I'll ask around though.

Re: The mormans are doing it too!
The last group of LDS mission kids that came to my door left with lemonade and (fresh) cookies in their stomaches. It takes some real brass ones (or tatas) to talk to a complete stranger about your convictions, and I respect that.
