Re: SAT scores...
I got 1300 the first time and 1340 the second time. If you add my best scores, it comes out to 1380. Yes, that's allowed.
I got seven-something on SAT II writing, but that's the only one I did well on.

I love how everyone that didn't get the highest score mentioned (aka. less than 1490) blames it on hangover/little sleep/baseball game/et cetera.
I also said I'd whup its ass if I was hungover.

Exactly.
I made no excuses. Nor did you.
I did way better on the PSAT than I did on the SAT, though. Got to be a National Merit Scholar, which would have been way cooler if they had given me any money for it.
Oh, and for those who say that SAT scores are worthless, long term studies have shown that those with Higher SAT scores also tend to have higher IQ scores, and, on average, die wealthier. Of course, it doesn't work like that for everyone, as we all undoubtedly know many exceptions, but, on average, SAT scores are pretty indicative of future success.
Just a little food for thought.
Edit: just realized that this may come across as arrogant. For the record, I have no certainties about my future, I don't think my SAT score is anything special, and I don't honestly think I'll die any wealthier than any of you. It's just something I learned in Psych the other day.

Last May was 1470 (740M, 730V); I'm a perfectionist so I am taking them again in January.

I personally blame it on not having a proper education... what do you say to that?
I never paid much attention in any of my math classes since 8th grade, but I got a 1420 on my SAT (800M, 620V). What do you say to that?

What do you mean by this? A test you take in High School that reflects your likely performance in college (aka SAT, ACT) will probably reflect your eventual lifelong performance. It's not something that changes over time.
If you mean that IQ scores are less accurate as you grow older, that is also incorrect. IQ tends to be relatively stable throughout your life, as shown by numerous data.
I could google links and stuff if you want, but I'm lazy and afraid that I might be misinterpreting what you're trying to say.

Either that or you're misrepresenting how much attention you've paid in your math classes in order to sound even smarter than you are. I highly doubt that you would get an 800 in math from just learning on your own.

I have been programming for 5 years now, and I used to practice with an SAT math book when I was in 9th grade. And yes, I DID teach myself both of those. If you can find my old Calculus teacher, she will tell you that I was the only one who did not get a 100 for participation because I would sleep during every class.

What do you mean by this?
Take a Psych class, you talk extensively about this stuff. Achievement tests become less than 50% predictive of success by the time you take your graduate degree entrance tests.
IQ is also rife with inaccuracies. Culture has a lot to do with it. Studies show that perfectly intelligent people from different cultures through out the world do poorly on the standard western IQ test. Also IQ test scores seem to lower as you get older (which makes sense but still is peculiar)
Then there is the theories of multiple intelligences, basically explaining how some people are awesome at sports, music or some other category but seem dumb when compared to the average student in another subject like math or english.
You know the hole, the one you put the pie in?

Re: SAT scores...
The Math SAT is incredibly easy, relative to the verbal at least. I don't believe you need anything more than you learn in 9th grade math in order to have all the knowledge to do perfectly on it. I still got a 63 on the math PSAT, because I suck at math, but I would not be terribly surprised if someone got an 800 without paying attention in high school math.

First of all, you're comparing a SAT score to my ACT score, and that's Apples to Lemons, my friend.

SAT scores are an attempt by colleges to even out the not insignificant grade swings from one High School to the next. Its purpose is to find those schools that grade too easy.

I'm looking back on the first page, and you said in a direct reply to low SAT scores that it is because the lack of a good education.
Why does it seem like everyone is so bitter that I did good on the SAT, yet I don't do well in school? I thought it was well known that SAT scores are not reflective of the grades you get. The class valedictorian at my old high school got an 1100 or something, yet he had a 3.99 GPA. I finished with a 2.75 GPA.
Second of all... booboo it. I don't have any time to contend with this.
You don't have time to contend with this? Is this a contest and I didn't know it?

Sigh.
PSAT 80, 7X, 7X where I don't remember the Xs.
SAT 1500
Never studied for either of them.
My sisters have done better in both, 1580 SAT for my older sister, my younger sister just got her PSATs: 80, 74, 80.
A friend of my from high school (now studying music at Harvard) got 80, 80, 78 PSAT and 1600 SAT.
