Re: Halo PC/Mac vs Xbox

dodge the rocket and pump them with fuel rods.

how fast can you shoot fuel rods from the fuel rod cannon (not on banshee, the handheld one)?

the banshee would seem to work very well against the tank. freeze the tank with your plasma, then bombard it with your fuel rods. btw, how do the fuel rods with the banshee work?

Re: Halo PC/Mac vs Xbox

What are ya talking about the ghost is not very good. The ghost is the ultimate Scorpion Killer!!!

As soon as you start firing on the tank, it freezes up. Just stay away from the barrel and that tank is dead in the water.

Not sure how they work against banshee's since they weren't in the Halo version multiplayer.

Hopefully I'll get my copy today!!!! (it's way overdue for 2nd day air, been more than a week)

Never used a ghost against a tank, but can imagine it would be good at that. Against a banshee, and you're dead meat. (I would presume, based on some obvious assumptions)

Btw, the ghost is useless except for fast travel.  I hate the gun on it, but it has aded me in several speedy escapes with the flag.

I've found the best Ghost move is to circle your target pumping plasma all the time. big_smile

This is why it's great against the Scorp. The tank is too slow to keep up or catch it.

This is MP and based on experience, no? Most of it's quite opposite to my SP experience. (I'll leave it at that for now to avoid spoilers).

Specifically, I need to know about the 'freezing' part... (and btw, Levi, Cat 3.10s are out. Halo image Q seems better, specifically the shaders are steadier- flickering seems fixed).

Re: Halo PC/Mac vs Xbox

yeah, i was talking single play. there are new multiplay maps, the fuel rod gun, a flamethrower, and the banshee.

edit: oh yeah, and i almost forgot: we don't have to pay to play halo online, unlike x-box live. that's so weak... pay for the system, pay for the game, then pay to use it? and people put up with that?  confused

Well, there is more technology, development and another department you're paying for when you include X-Box live. And Microsoft loses money on XBox sales, so they only place they're profiting is the game itself. Of course, if you're at a college, you don't really have to pay for XBox live, either. Just play the folks on your network.

i s'pose. but then there's games like evercrack (EverQuest) that you have to buy to own and to use... also, isn't the ps2 networking thing free? (having no consoles of my own, i have to go by what i remember from my buddies)

ok so this is a little late in this topic but last nite i was thinking about this while play pgr 2 on xbox live with my friend.  what if, when you bought an xbox you play X amount of money to get xbox live.  once you paid that fee, all you needed was broadband.  so there would be no subscription, no per game fees.  sure X dollars might be 100 bucks or so, but it would last the whole console life.  i think this would work because microsoft wouldn't have to worry about whether or not people are gonna renew their subscriptions.  people pay up front so whether they use it or not microsft gets the money needed to run the servers.  (as opposed to someone getting a free year trial of live then cancelling.  they have just wasted server bandwidth and contributed no money to the company)

when the next generation of microsoft's console is released you can't play online anymore.  you can either buy the new console and pay X amount of dollars to get xbox live for that console, or retain your xbox and pay Z amount of dollars to continue your xbox live subscription.

individual games could have small downloadable content that might cost money, but would be free to play as long as you had live.

i know this seems awkward, but it really struck me as a good idea the time (4 am or something)   let me know what you think of it just for curiosity sake.

oh and just to bring this somewhat on track...
standard warthogs are the best for taking out banshees.  from my experience on both mac and xbox multiplayer the warthog's chaingun is good for taking out any covenant vehicle (ghost, banshee, wraith) because the warthog is very manuverable and can therefore avoid beeing "frozen" as easily as say a scorpion would be.

...the Freezing part?

i think he's referring to the effect plasma weaponry (specifically, the covvie plasma rifle) has on players and vehicles. although i have never noticed this in person, i've been told it slows their rate of fire and movement

At last... well, we'll see, but I should still be Death in a Scorpion, be they Ghost or Banshee.

Played thru "Assault" earlier on Legendary. All my Marines were dead before I got in the tank, then all the Covies were. Ghosts were target practice. smile

yeah, i'm about 3/4 the way through AOTCR on heroic, it's amazing how much harder legendary is than heroic, especially when you compare the difficulty of heroic and normal. and when you first get the scorpion, i have a problem with the sgt. johnson lookalike marine repeatedly picking up a ghost and running me over. REALLY annoying, i've started just capping him now (which is really a shame, since he's a great shot with that snipe rifle).

I believe it is Johnson- you seem to run into Zulu team 2-3 times during the game besides the intro movie. Remember, it's their dropship forced down at Bridge 1 that you come across when you pick up the Scorpion.

(For yuks, when I ran that on Legendary, the Banshee got stuck between bridge levels- I have a screen. It made mucho noise smile ).

(You can't cap the Sarge! eek  big_smile)
