Hosting
I have a good connection and could host MoH:AA games with about 10 people, so I decided I might give Halo a try. I know with MoH:AA you have to have som ports open (I'm connected to an airport basestation which is in turn connected to cable) and I was wondering what ports I had to have open to host a Halo game. If this works, I can run a small [MA]server while we see what's happening with the real one.

Re: Hosting
if you go into network settings you can set the server and client ports. my question is do both need to be opened or just the server port?

Re: Hosting
So in that case do I just choose a random number? Does it make a difference what number I choose?

Re: Hosting
im not exactly sure. i have some questions about exactly how to serve as well. i would assume you could choose any port you want as long as its not in use by something else and then just open that port but im not really sure. although i don't see why you can't just use the defaults and open them up. i was hoping someone with a little more knowledge could step in here and help out as i don't know too much about this.

Re: Hosting
I got it all working, just opened the two ports that are default in Sharing (2202, 2203) and now it works. If you wanna play, it's [MA]temp server

Re: Hosting
The Halo graphics settings screen that appears when you first launch the game has a section for setting ports. If this dialog doesn't come up when you run the game, I think it will appear if you hold down the option key when you double click the app. Mine says "Server Port: 2302" and "Client Port: 2303," and then a blank field for an IP. Just make sure these ports are clear and you should be good to go.
*edit* oop, looks like you got it going.
