Ion painter : How does it work???
Whenever i use my ion painter, it shoots a thin red laser. that's it. i could wait for 10 more minutes. no difference. Also, i noticed that it doesn't use up the ammo in the gun when i shoot it. Am i doing something wrong here? am i supposed to lock on to someone like with the rocket launcher?

The Ion Painter directs the Ion Canon where to fire. When it locks on you hear a beet and the beam widens then BOOM. You can't get a lock unless the Ion Canon can see where you are aiming

The technical answer is what DocB gave.. The practical answer is that it doesn't work.. Anyone paying attention will be long gone from the blast radius by the time the satellite targets and fires.

What maps is this in anyway. I only seemed to notice it in Phobos2.

It's not in every map. If a map has an outdoor component go outside and look up. If the ion cannon is included in a map you'll see the ion canon in the sky then you'll have to search for the ion painter.
