GTKRadiant for MacOSX
I just noticed that the new stable version of GTKRadiant (1.4) is released, and has some....interesting.... setup instructions for the MacOSX operating system. There are no "package" for it, but there seems to be some instructions for using fink to get it (I only glanced at it so i'm not sure).
Has anyone tried it yet? Does it support JO/JA, and is it easy to install?
Get it here: http://www.qeradiant.com
O/T: I've only was able to get this program to install once on my linux box. I'm always missing some stupid library (I think somekind of GTK GL thing.). I'll probably d/l this to do some Q3A/RtCW map editing. (Since there is no Jedi support for the linux version.)

Re: GTKRadiant for MacOSX
i tried doing it over the summer but could never get it to work. some people have though so it is possible.
anyways, in answer to your questions-
easy to install:
worth the effort:
in theory you could do JKII stuff with it, im not sure about JKIII, youd have to check the page. it wont be easy to install and from what i hear, its not pretty (but it is possible) to use it.
If you do get it to work feel free to post what you did. I know there are various methods of trying to go about it and other people would be happy to hear how you did it.
Anyways, Im glad to hear that the developers are still working on it. There has always been some talk of dropping it due to (comparatively) low supply of developers & demand by people who would use it.

I installed it, and made a box with a spawnpoint for RtCW. It's not the most intuitive program out there, then again, I'm no 3d design guru by any means.
The install was more or less straightforward following the instructions on the install page.

Re: GTKRadiant for MacOSX
I installed 1.3.13-2, and I tried to create a simple map for JK2, but it didn't work. I'm pretty sure the OSX version doesn't support JK2 mapmaking. The mac version however will let you create Q3 and RtCW levels, but I don't have either of those games, so GTKRadiant is pretty useless to me until they update it.

Re: GTKRadiant for MacOSX
[RE: ViralDoctor] Same with LinuxRadiant: Q3, and RtCW. (I think Quake2 and Heretic 2 are supported now.) Thing is, I can run JK2 (And occording to some sites, JA as well) perfectly in Linux using a Win32 API translator (wine), as the other games all have native versions. Its obviously only "ported" games that are supported.
It's pretty bad that there's little attention to it [MacRadiant]. The only reason there's even a Linux version, is that TTimo that does alot or Radiant work "seems" like a Linux Nut(R), as he has ported most of id Software's games to that platform, and I assume the reason that MacRadiant is around is because of the "easier" method of porting Linux > OSX/X11. (At least, how I theorize it.)
One thing that I hate seeing with cross-platform games, is that the TOOLS aren't usually ported as well. Look at UT/UT2k3, or Neverwinter Nights. The UT tools are Windoze only, and the NWN toolset is Windows only. There are exceptions to this, of course. [/rant]
So, anyone with success stories, post 'em here! Anyone with JEDI KNIGHT success stories (not using VPC), by all means, post em here too!

I'd say that's a sound theory. If I had more time, I'd definitely investigate working on it. The current Mac version is pretty user-hostile.
