Joining a programming competition

I will be doing a high-school Mock ACM programming competition on Saturday. I know command line c++ but they want us to use visual c++. Their won't be any graphics question but I would like to know from some people who know both languages if i will be able to do this with the knowledge of c++ that I have.

Re: Joining a programming competition

you should be able to, i doubt there will be any differences, especially in competitions.  In competitions they usually use only standard stuff, hence why you wont be doing API stuff.

Re: Joining a programming competition

Just finished the competition. My team was 8th out of 13. Finished one problem out of ten(the team that one finished 4). I consider this to be quite good since one of the people we were going with dropped out like 3 days before and we had to use a backup who didn't know the programming language.
