And I hate Limp smurf too. Fred Durst is a joke of a human being; he's an immature brat who has nothing better to do but talk crap about other celebrities; namely female ones, and brag about his sexual escapades (which never happened! gasp! shock!) with them. Go back to highschool, you stupid hick smurf.

Ok. Does this have anything to do with why you hate the band's music? I don't like Limp Bizkit, but it's because I don't think they rock, not because the singer is a dick.

Another vote for White Stripes here, altho, do they even qualify as a "band"?

Maybe they qualify as a "band" in the general sense, but they don't qualify as a rock band.

So how can the guy who plays rhythm guitar be the best  rock guitarist of the year.  Yes I know they are just ripping off Guitar world,  but still.  .

Aside from the specific choice, why does a lead guitarist necessarily have to be the "best"? Rhythm guitar playing is plenty capable of being individualistic and expressionistic.

RATM's first album is still on my 'Must Have CD's' list.

I've never given a RATM album a second thought, as every song that has ever been on the radio is nothing more than the same guitar chord, played over and over, with the same drum beat, played over and over, with some angry guy yelling like a five-year-old who must be heard over everyone else.

No. Renegades is a pile of steaming, brown smurf. It has a few highlights (3 good covers maybe) but overall it is absolutely dire.

I didn't think it was that bad, but it was their worst work.

The best album was the first, no doubt.

Second choice is a split between Battle of Los Angeles and Evil Empire.  I choose BOLA myself.

Sure was.

The White Stripes.  Please...I understand that some people like the guitar rifts, but you know what, I heard those same rifts in TRANCE music.  Shessh, the White Stripes are on my list as hipster bands I wish would disappear.  And oh yeah, the Strokes.  A band full of rich kids in grudge wear when they can obviously afford Prada.

I don't think anyone that's into Mandy Moore's latest offering has any room to judge what's good and what's bad.

As harsh as that response was, I have to agree. I bought that Mandy Moore Coverage album for my wife's Christmas present, and as soon as I heard her butcher XTC's "Senses Working Overtime" I knew the rest of the album would follow suit, so I left the room and didn't look back.

BTW, the Offspring were the worst band of 1996, or whenever their album after Smash came out. 2003 was just a continuation of the suck.

As for my pick, mainstream music is so chockful of mediocrity, unoriginality and talentlessness that I couldn't narrow it down to one act. So I just make sure my radio is off, MTV is blocked on my TV channels, and my CD collection is well within reach.
