you can't carry alcohol in your carryon but you can put it in your checked baggage. And they do check your handbags depending on where you are from, planning on bringing a gun to the states are you?

I'm 100% positive it is not illegal on international flights, but I'm a little fuzzy on the whole domestic flight thing. 

I don't think it is illegal to carry it in your bag.  They serve it on the plane, after all.

Just don't pour it on people and light them on fire.  That would be bad.

good question... i had contemplated bringing back alcohol after visiting my faliy abroad this chrismas, where legal alcohol age is sensibly 18, i'm only 19, so i figured bringing it into the usa might not be too good.  while i don't drink that much, lots of my friends are legal and would have appreciated some alcohol from home.  it will be another 2 year before another christmas break until i am legal.  sigh.

Well, if you're dead-set on bringing alcohol with you, just do the bootlegger thing: pour it into a bottled water bottle, and just drop it in the carryon or walk around with it in your hand.

There are easier ways, though.
