Re: Would you date a older woman/younger man?
Funny, I have a rule for age differences. Its for something a bit dirtier that dating, but it can still be applied.
I like to call it Pilt's Law
You can check it out hereHar. So you should only date if you're within 1 year?
Not so good at math I see.
Pilts law allows a greater margin as you get older.
For instance I am 21 11/12, so acording to Pilts law I can get with girls 19<= x < 26
but in ten years I'll be 31 and I'll be able to get with girls 28< = x < 38

Re: Would you date a older woman/younger man?
You can only get a 0 out of something like that if the top part of the fraction is 0.
So (x-y)^2 -1 = 0
(x-y)^2 = 1
x-y=1
So your age, minus her age, must be a year, no?

Re: Would you date a older woman/younger man?
Isn't it a well known fact that men hit their sexual peak in their late teens, and women in their mid 30's? I don't know how many times I've heard/read that.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I'd date a woman who was younger than me. I guess it would depend on how old I was at the time. If I was say, 24, and she was 22 or 21, I don't think I'd care. But if I was 21 (as I am now), and she was 19, it would weird me out. Don't ask why, it just does.
Older women? Again, it depends on how much older. I'm 21, and my girlfriend is 22. No biggie there.

That's based on a single study, the Kinsley data during the 1950s, which has since come under heavy fire.

okay, I'm not gonna debate the study, but I just GOTTA educate you on one thing: it's Kinsey (since you've written "Kinsley" at least 3 or 4 times.)

(That would make more sense to me, I think; not everyone can reach their sexual peak at the same age)...

Re: Would you date a older woman/younger man?
I suppose this is logical, since men hit their sexual peak at 19.
Speak for yourself. I've gotten much better as I've gotten older.
It makes sence that men hit their physical sexual peak around 18-19. That's when the bones are fully formed and when, in pre-historic times, men were at their strongest. The pre-historic lifespan was much shorter than it is now, and given humanity's love of tribal warfare (in addition to a difficult environment), men didn't live very long. Someone in their 40's was considered an old man. Today, that's practically mid-life.
Males are, in many species, competitive with other males. Those who are physically strong get to procreate. So, coupling the peak of male sex drive with the male physical peak makes logical sense.
Recent research suggests that the brain isn't fully mature until 24, fyi.
It also makes sense that women hit their sexual peak late in life. Although women typically experience menopause (the passing of their final egg) later than the 30s, it's dangerous to try to have children in one's 40s. Eggs develop flaws ("fragmentation"). Babies are likely to be miscarried or born with defects. So, women can bear children with reasonable safety in their 30s, which is why their sexual peak is during that time. Their biological clocks are saying "you had better reproduce now before it's too late".
Since women don't battle each other for mates, it doesn't matter that their physical peak was around 19.
there's really no need for all of this

Re: Would you date a older woman/younger man?
I've only been with one chick younger than me, but we were both 18... I turned 19 while doing her, and then so did she... but she was't much younger. Also was doing a 19yr old when I was 18.
On the other hand, I was 21 going out with a 24 year old chick before, and now I'm 22 checkin out this 23.5 yr old, she is fine.
I'm attracted to girls aroud my age, not like 19yr olds. chicks a year or two older than me have matured and are freakin hotties.

Re: Would you date a older woman/younger man?
Pilt, I have a much simpler formula that generates nearly the same answer...
younger age = x
older age = y
if (y/2) + 7 >= x, then it's acceptable.
For example, say a 22 and 28 year old: 28/2 = 14, 14+7 = 21, 22 > 21 so it's OK.
But if it's a 17 and a 14 year old, then 17/2 = 8.5, 8.5+7 = 15.5, 14 < 15.5. Not OK.
The margin increases as you get older, too... if 40 = x then the younger person has to be at least 27. See?
Personally, I'd only ever date a woman who was older than or equal to my age. Both for the mental and emotional maturity, as well as the fact that people younger than me invariably remind me of my younger sister, and that thought just sticks and ferments and grows until...

Nope, nobody's bothered to conduct new studies or even verify the data from the 1950s. It seems to be a peculiarity of psychologists that they never bother to verify their data.
