Re: Would you date a older woman/younger man?
Nope, nobody's bothered to conduct new studies or even verify the data from the 1950s.
Links, please.
It seems to be a peculiarity of psychologists that they never bother to verify their data.
Perhaps, since they don't have billions in profits, they endeavor to expand upon existing work rather than reinvent the wheel?

there's really no need for all of this

Ya, well, there's a lot of things craving my testicles right now so you'll just have to get in line.
Celibacy thing is rockin' along... feels like I'm halfway there, but I'm only finished day 6, got a link to it in my .sig if you *really* want to follow.

Knowing that you're dumb enough to try is good enough for me
I couldn't do it.

I love being a 31-y-o male - I don't care about rules and would date women from 18-40!
Maybe when I reach the age of 40 I will follow a single rule:
"she has to be half my age"

I think that by the time I reach 40 I will have a single rule too... before taking her home, make sure she's single.

Re: Would you date a older woman/younger man?
if someone else wants to do that it's fine but I will NEVER date a younger guy. If they are even a SECOND younger than me Im immediately not interested in a relationship.
Do you take timezone differences into this calculation?
Yes.
bullsmurf! I can't hear you. Sound off like you got a pair.

The link is from a book of mine; "Human Sexuality", 4th edition. Can't recall the author offhand.

Have you studied science, XYZ? Then you are aware that before anything has credibility, it must be duplicatable?
Instead of verifying their work, psychologists seem to assume that all data is right on the first try, and publish. It's rather maddening, actually.

Yes.
What if they lied to you, then you found out that they were like... 2 weeks younger, or 2 months, or 2 years, etc... but you only found out after you started liking them lots?
Or if you were seeing each other, and age didn't come up, and you were head over toe-nails for this guy, turns out... he's slightly younger... do you get up and leave in the middle of dinner?
Bad experience with younger guys?
I just seem to like slightly older chicks (1 - 3 yrs) because they are more mature... and surprisingly (I don't show it here) but I've always been slightly more mature than the average person my age...
The only thing about age that I look at is, Are they Legal? Could they be my mom?

Creepy. Really, really creepy. What are these relationships like, anyway?
something about time zones

The fact that they lied would probably be a deal breaker. Doesn't matter if it was about 2 days or 2 years.

Re: Would you date a older woman/younger man?
Going Back to page 2...
I think men dating younger women is wrong. I'm gonna get killed for saying this but the truth is I've known four or five naive-ass women who have dated guys like 10 years older and they have major problems.
I personally wouldn't date someone ten years younger. I would date someone older. I think mostly it's not a problem of an age difference, it's a problem of how old they are at the time. For example, a 19 year old girl dating a 29 year old man is a lot different than a 40 year old woman with a 50 year old guy, if you catch my drift.
I think you raise some valid points, but I disagree with your use of the word "wrong."
I'm nearly 40, I've been around the block a couple of times and I'm (somewhat) more emotionally mature than when I was 22. Most of the women I know who are younger than 30 are not women I would date. (Sleep with, yes. Date, no.) They don't have enough life experience, and some of the hardships that couples go through would be brand new to them. I don't want to be their teacher. But there are exceptions, as there always are. And who are you to say it would be "wrong" if I fell in love with a 26 year old, or even a 23 year old, if she loved me too?
Your naive-ass friends got what was coming to them, and they are wiser for it.
Now, on to this sexual peak thing...
Physically, a male is probably at his best at that 18-20 year range. Theoretically, he's producing enough sperm to father a city, he's strong, his heart's good, he's got energy to spare. But I'm here to tell you that experience has it's place as well! And no 18 year old knows as much about pleasing a partner as an older man.
C'mere, baby! You sexy MF!
Grandfatherly advice: You can drink 'em pretty, but you can't drink 'em smart.
