Re: To PeeeCee or Not to PeeeCee?
I would buy a PC, but the only reason I would buy it would be for games. I would never use it as my main computer. But you can just so much more for your money in terms of a gaming computer with a PC.

I'd never buy, or accept a PeeCee no matter how good it is. (Even if given to me free) Death to M$!

I don't have the money.
And besides, someday I'd like to have a dual 1.2GHz upgrade in my Cube...

Yeah, you need another option. Yes, I've bought one, and no I don't use it JUST for games. That would be a horrible waste of money.

You do realize, don't you, that the ulterior motive of nearly 90% of Wintel owners who chose a peecee versus a Mac is really just to play games?

Re: To PeeeCee or Not to PeeeCee?
My Macs suit me fine. Being creative and having fun (not playing games) come first, so I don't need, or even consider, a PC to be an option.
I don't have the money (well I do, but I'd rather spend it on something useful and enriching), space (two Macs fill up the desks here quite nicely), nor time to deal with Windows.
Plus, my Dual 867 plays games quite well, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Price:performance be damned...it doesn't matter how cheap it was and how fast it is if you can't stand using it.

Re: To PeeeCee or Not to PeeeCee?
I don't do games. I don't care about games. I would never buy a PC "just for" games.
But I just did buy a PC. Inexpensive, of course. My "old" PC is 4 years old, has overheating problems, and is slow and pokey. Virtual PC does not run well AT ALL for me. There were a few things that I wanted a PC for (gaming not being one of them) so I got a PC.
::Shrug:: I love Macs, but I don't think it's a huge political or "religious" statement to own a Mac (or a PC, for that matter). I just like Macs

Re: To PeeeCee or Not to PeeeCee?
I rolled my own PC for gaming. When I'm not playing games, it sits in its own isolated room crunching SETI wu's.

I don't have enough money to even think about getting a machine just for gaming. I got my QS and my GBA, that is it.

Damn straight
XP too, but more options is better
I could care less why other people by their computers... The biggest reason I got this one is because I needed a LOT more processing power than my mac has, and I certainly can't get a new mac for the price I got this computer...
I also was taking a VB class last quarter when I got it too, that was my other motivation.
Games are a nice side benifit, when I have time to play them.

That's cool, but I really like a game that I don't think will ever come to mac, which is CounterStrike and many others.

The corollary to this fact is that people buy Macs to actually get some serious work done!

Re: To PeeeCee or Not to PeeeCee?
I just bought a PC due to the Mac's lack of games. Also, to buy a decent Mac costs almost 4x as much as to buy a top of the line PC. Let me just say, UT2K3 and Mafia are far better than any game I've ever seen for the Mac.

Re: To PeeeCee or Not to PeeeCee?
Really, I got a gamecube. I like playing games on consoles better. There is a larger variety than PC's anyway. The only thing I don't like about consoles is their lack of Mouse input. Playing JK II in FPS mode is much harder with only little joysticks. Sabering is pure joy though!
I hate to admit it, but games are a reason against Macs, and it probably won't get better or worse.
If things go the way Microsoft wants it, there will never be freeware or shareware games on a console.
