Suffusion of Yellow-- what are you majoring in? My oldest brother is there for graduate school in the PhD program studying neurology and I was there a few months ago..

Re: College
I'm studying the history and philosophy of science. It's not a regular major here, but I'm working it through the University Professors Program. It's a little interdisciplinary, construct your own major type deal.

Re: College
What's Boston University like? Does it feel neglected and inferior being in the company of two best-in-the-world schools?
Well, my advisor is a Nobelist so I'm not complaining.
What BU has is superb diversity of programs. It has the faculty and resources to offer one of the best educations around, but it's a big place and no one's going to do any hand holding. It's a great place for self-motivated students who know what they want from college.
The location is hard to beat, unless you have your heart set on an idyllic setting. Personally, I'd much rather have all of Boston within walking distance than a fancy quad.
One of the main drawbacks people will list is the guest policy. This is true; it's insultingly strict, and was one of the primary reasons I now live off-campus. It's been loosening recently, though. We've also just undergone a great deal of administrative turbulance, but it appears to be calming down for now.
If you're interested in applying/attending catch me on AIM and I can go on at greater length.

University of Notre Dame
Notre Dame, Indiana
On a side note, when I was studying for a semester in Washington DC as part of Notre Dame's Washington Program, I stayed in the Boston University Washington Center when I had the pleasure of having Robert Dallek (a Boston University Professor and brilliant historian) as a professor.

Ditto about the thread applying.
San Diego, California: UCSD. Major: computer engineering.
Speaking of Apple stores, there's a large selection in our bookstore, plus there's an Apple Store in the large mall 5 minutes (drive) away.

Western WA University - Bellingham WA.
I think this is the 10th time this thread has popped up since I started attending it.
Central Washington University - Ellensburg, WA.
Used to study in WSU, but it's too far away from Bellevue, WA. Right now, my major is Information Technology and Administrative Management - networking admin and database admin (minor)... next quarter will be my last.

How did you like Pullman/WSU? Everybody's telling me I should go there if I don't go to Cal, but what I've read about Pullman has me very apprenhensive.
element - good luck and let us know.

well.. I was there between 2000 and 2003, when the football team was doing well. Cal and WSU are all semester systems, so either way it's not a big deal. However, big city vs. small town; nice weather vs. strange weather; cost of tuition, etc.
When I left town in 2003, the city of Pullman was expanding. I didn't have a chance to visit there, so I'd no idea what's it look like right now. The school itself is great. I picked WSU since I want to move away from my parents and I just don't like UW at all, not to mention there was no MIS program at UW.
Getting around town is OK, they do have busses there. It's not necessary to bring your own car unless you want to spend the weekend in Seattle/Spokane from time to time. There is small regional airport and I kind of like it. Usually, it costs you around $150 to Seattle by air and it's a short 1hr flight, but it can go up-to $400.

I'm hoping I'll get in and at least be able to visit, although I'm really apprehnsive about going just based on city size and the like.

Re: College
I chose my school because it is in a small city. In fact, I think the college population is about twice that of the actual town residents. It's nice. There is no traffic, everything I need is here, and I get to drive fast on winding country roads to and from home on occasion... I guess it also helps I hate large cities.
