Re: Weekend Roll Call!

I'm going to our place in Deep Creek, MD this AM. No broadband and no machine to run UT2K3. Be back Monday.

Re: Weekend Roll Call!

Oh hell, my brother blew into town and I've been running around all day and night on errands. I'm sorry Saturday's a wash for me. Sunday should be better.

Re: Weekend Roll Call!

You missed us Friday. Doc and I were on BBR. Then Wang showed up for a bit and I even caught a glimpse OSFG.

GGs!

Speaking of BBR server. Anyone else lag there? Man I had a tough go of it on some maps. Couldn't see the T/L, weapons fire, peeps disappearing. Not trying to whine here, just saving some face to my rep. tongue Maps where I was last or close to the bottom was really do to lag. Just had some really bad spikes. I'd start out at 90, then go upto 160 and back down again. This was F6 stats. I found it difficult to play smooth when the connection wasn't.

Ok, no you're right I just suck. So I'll shut up now! wink

Re: Weekend Roll Call!

Yah, I had the same kind of lag problems as well. Seemed to be intermittent. Unusual for that server.

Sorry Doc for bailing on you last night. I "updated" my sound card drivers a couple weeks ago and ever since then UT2K3 once in a while will make this bad screech sound (like a record needle being dragged across the album).  Then the screen goes black and my machine reboots. Last night was the fifth and final time I hope. After the crash I removed the sound card and reinstalled the drivers. After that my heart for playing was gone, so I did some SP Halo instead. big_smile

Last night was the first time I've seen my FPS drop below 20 (only for a second, but I did catch it). I could only imagine what that Castle2003 map would've been like for anyone without heavy iron. When everyone was in the center chasing their respected enemy FC and all the action associated with that. Brutal, great fun, but brutal!

Re: Weekend Roll Call!

I was having mouse sensitivity problems last night so I quit shortly after you did. I've recently gone back to playing at full Cinema HD resolution and been happy with the playability. I do think that the BBR server was again lagy last night though it did not appear to be a ping problem.

Re: Weekend Roll Call!

I've been getting several spikes on the BBR server lately. I also get them when a new player is added.

I wish I hadn't missed the Friday fun. I've been turning in by 9 PM lately; say along with me: "Brain is an old fart!"

Re: Weekend Roll Call!

Must be me....where ever I go, I bring the lag monster with me. Then just like a bad guest he doesn't leave. big_smile

Ah, mouse issues. Try a different mousing surface Doc, experiment. Surfaces that work well with optical mice from least to best IMHO:
Average mouse pad. Until they wear out or get dirty.
Fake laminate wood...i.e no pad at all just your desk.
Canvas....optical mice seem to like the texture a lot.
Dell's optical mouse pad...designed for optical mice. Sometimes almost too sensitive, where the mouse just freaks and you have to pick it up in order for it to stop.
My current and new favorite (old favorite was canvas) is the surface that is on my new keyboard tray from 3M. It too was designed for optical mice, but doesn't have the issues the Dell one had. With the Teflon on the mouse and pad it slides like ice.

Re: Weekend Roll Call!

I saw your lag issues, you were studdering all over the place. Kind of a neat effect, like a strobe light deal.

Yah, unless you be de one doin' the strobing. Kind of disconcerting to jump on a platform in ElectricFields and instead find yourself falling through space. Can we say "ARRRRRRRGH!!" boys and girls.
