% Body Fat
We got one of those new-fangled scales that calculates fat percentage.
Apparently, since fat is a faster conductor of electricity than protein, the amount of time it takes for a current to make the trip from one foot to the other is a good meaure of your fat content.
Anyway, mine was a surprisingly low 8%.
I need more fat on my body. Anyone have any tips besides those awful powder drinks? Since low-carb is all the rage with people trying to lose weight, I figure maybe high-carb is the way to go.
I already lift weights, but it's low weight, high rep, which tones and doesn't add bulk. Maybe a swicth to high weight, llow rep is in order.
That, and getting back to eight glasses of gravy a day.

Re: % Body Fat
I believe only the pool measurement has a fairly accurate reading of body fat. Others have ~4% error
4% isn't that big a deal. I'm just questioning those scales that say they measure body fat.

I would say they have a large error. And 4% can make a huge difference.

Re: % Body Fat
Regardless of the measurement error, I'm too smurfing skinny, and that's the problem.
I had a full battery of blood work a year ago, and my cholesterol is 170, so I suppose I can stand to drink a few glasses of bacon grease a day too.

Re: % Body Fat
There's powdered drinks specialized for weight gaining purposes, but since you don't like those, then all I can say is In N Out Burger. Three times a day.
My body fat is 11%. CH-CHING!

How do they account for sweaty feet?
I would think there is a big difference in electrical resistance between dry and wet feet.

Re: % Body Fat
Why do you need more fat on your body? 8% body fat is not too low, and there's nothing wrong with being skinny.
If you insist on putting on some weight, though, I'd suggest you add more pasta and bread to your diet.
And ice cream.

I get it. Instead of making sandwiches with bread, I'll use Pop Tarts.

Re: % Body Fat
I'm sort of fat because of a mofo steroid treatment that I had to take over several months for a rare affliction. I used to be as skinny as a toothpick and now I'm more on the chubby side.

I laid off the sauce (Budweiser) for about three weeks.
Due to sickness & other smurf.
I lost 3 pounds.
And by the way, those three weeks ended in a binge to reckon' with last Saturday.

Re: % Body Fat
I stay between six and eight percent, due to training, as opposed to dieting. I believe very strongly in balanced nutrition. All these crazy diet plans will only send you swinging like a pendulum.
If you have low bodyfat, but are well-toned, then you shouldn't worry or complain. If you're just skinny, depending on how skinny, that can be unhealthy as well. I guess a balance physique is important, as well.
I know of a triathlete who brings her body down to four percent.
She has to wear a wetsuit, sometimes, in an indoor pool. That's not healthy.

Have four or five alcoholic drinks, then check. On a friend's scale, that could drop me by as much as 5%
Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

Re: % Body Fat
I can gain or lose five pounds in a week, depending on what I eat. can measure 195 one day, then 200 only a few days later. I'm 6'4", have a pretty fast metabolism (I get hungry 3 hours after breakfast and lunch), yet I think there is some fat I could lose.
When I was going to school, I weighed less than 185 pounds, and I was cycling or walking every day. Now I don't get much exercise and I have a bit more of a belly.
Anyway, if you want to gain weight, I would suggest lots of bread, pasta, red meat and exercise. Use the carbs and fat for energy and the protein to gain muscle mass.
Pizza is an excellent source of carbs, protein and fat.
