Bit Torrent is awsome!

But only for legal downloads.  You know how there are many artists that allow bootlegging of their concerts?  Like Dave Matthews?  Thats is simple amazing, the brilliance of it.  I'm almost at a loss for words.  Anyway, I detest bands who make money but don't deserve it.  The people that realize that downloading is eventually good for them, those people are to be commended.  So, I know this is really rambing on, but, http://homepage.mac.com/oatmeal/MAF/maxes/kudos.gif to Dave Matthews, Phish, the Grateful Dead and so on and so on!

** Ahem ** ~ SHN - shorten files.

Flac is also good for that.

I got a Yes show from 1978 a while back that is just incredible. Bit Torrent and furthernet.org are great resources for that.

Re: Bit Torrent is awsome!

I was annoyed by that format, luckily 5 minutes later I found a little SHN-->AIFF so I could use iTunes to get some AACs.

BitTorrent is blocked by who knows what at my university, no concerts for me.

I don't know, I'm not at school right now.  All I know is that it hasn't worked on PCs or Macs at school.

Re: Bit Torrent is awsome!

6881 - 6889 are the default ports for Bit Torrent. However, running so high in the range, it is probably running in a range of ports that is easy to shut down and forget about.

You could try changing that in the preferences, but I don't know if it will help or not.

Re: Bit Torrent is awsome!

Is there a good place to find these legal download streams?

I'd use google, but it'll probably list about a million dodgy rubbish sites.

Re: Bit Torrent is awsome!

suprnova.org is one of the most consistently active sites. As such, though, they get swamped with traffic and even with loads of mirrors, you can have a hard time getting through. But you can get HDTV avi's of most TV shows within a few hours of their broadcast. Older shows (Quantum Leap, MST3K, etc) don't always have seeds in place, so those are hit or miss.

You mean there's illegal uses for P2P?

Shocking.

And I swear, the day that Apple comes out with the fabled "iPorn" is the day that I stop using P2P.

What do you think the new iPhoto Library Sharing is for? In combination with iTunes Music Library you got some exciting possibilities. Of course, I have no need because the people in the room below me seem to have no problem sharing.

OHHHH...ALMOST THERE!!!
