I actually saw this last night!

Yes before my very eyes a guy flying a Banshee actually landed and gave the flag carrier his Banshee to make the run to home. WOW! I actually saw team play! A BIG  up to the team minded Banshee flyer whoever you were.

I do that all the time. It is only the polite thing to do.

Yeah, it's happened to me a few times as well and I do it as a matter of course myself. Although, one guy just stood there with the flag and we both got killed before he could jump in the banshee. Maybe he thought I was gonna TK him for the flag or something.

Maybe. But then you would have just run him down.

Anyway, what is with people tking to get a vehicle? One person who was especially bad at this attempted to do so to me but I decided to prevent him from doing so. He then claims he wasn't shooting me. What is wrong with these people?

I am still working on the ducking part. But yeah, people who try to run you down are usually to lazy to avoid plas nades.

If you get one on you though the best way to survive is to get out before the explosion and back in before you hit the ground unless you happen to be close enough not to die.

Sometimes, the person isn't trying to get the vehicle, just get a ride
I often take pot shots at warthogs that are driving away w/out a passenger/gunner to get a ride, and the driver usually stops.  the dual/triple load on a warthog is more efficient anyway, and its just not nice to let someone go into the opposite field without support

Yeah but how do you give a ride to some one in a banshee that you are running towards?

This makes me think that perhaps, until online manners improve (/hell freezes, apparently), it might be better to just fly CAP for the FC, at least if you don't know your teammates.

I did that earlier with a ghost, the flag guy was getting pummeled by a blue guy, so I ran over the blue guy, landed the ghost in front of the flag carrier, let him go then continued blowing up anyone who tried to chase him for as long as I could.

Re: I actually saw this last night!

wow, seems like we'd all have a lot of fun playing on our future, as yet unnamed [MA] server(s), with lots of strategery and whatnot.

and yeah, people online can be pretty dumb/rude. just wish the team chat function had bindable sayings and stuff.

Re: I actually saw this last night!

I have always been a "going my way?" kind of player, ever since the original Tribes.  If its a multi-seater, I'll pull along side them or in front of them, let them hop on, and take off as fast as possible.  And if its a one-seater, like the Banshee or the Ghost, I give it up.  I mean hell, when it comes to the scores, what matters more?  Me flying around making kills, or the flag getting captured?

The only downside is, when you're playing as support, people tend to overlook your contributions to the round.  I may not make many kills, and I may never touch the flag (although I frequently do end up picking it up if my support isn't enough), but I'm there as often as health allows to aide in the return.

Its great to see so many selfless players on this clan that'll get your back.  Just wish more people out there played this way.

Re: I actually saw this last night!

One time I actually ran into our flag carriers vehicle to stop it going off a cliff, it was on gephyrophobia and his truck or ghost (cant remember) kinda crashed and was leaning off the edge, I was in a banshee and came at it from the side, ran into it and set it back on course. That was funny.

Re: I actually saw this last night!

Once this division takes off, I think [MA] will have a reputation of having the nicest people playing Halo smile I gave the flag carrier the first day I got Halo. Death Island, he was warding off attackers from the turret in the enemy base, and I landed right next to him and manned the turret, what a great cap.

Nice. Although I swear if one more "friendly" turret shoots me down trying to get a banshee that I am in a fight with, I will explode.

i would imagine that exploding would play havoc with your online gaming, and thus must strongly suggest that you avoid said explosion at all costs.

Re: I actually saw this last night!

and yeah, people online can be pretty dumb/rude. just wish the team chat function had bindable sayings and stuff.

I recently discovered iKey, which lets you assign bits of text you've typed beforehand to key combos. I'm not sure if it works with Halo, but if it does you could set up some sayings and then you would only have to push the relative button (for chat, team chat or vehicle chat) and then the combo of your choice to get the pre-typed text. If you added the return button the the end of the saying it would even enter it in for you.

Also, using iKey you can have any number of pre-set sayings, only limited by the space on your keyboard. Check it out: up

I believe we can rely on this nugget o' wisdom... every time I have seen a turret shoot down a Banshee, it has exploded, even before hitting the ground. NAG's oath has the ring of truth.

Apparently NAG's ears are also ringing with the sound of too many Banshees exploding around him...

wow, that would be sweet! if i can get a free sample i'll do some tinkering and see what i can come up with. that would greatly aid the [MA] clan in our quest to dominate the world's cookie supply.

DocB, I'll do you one better. One time in a 5v5 match, we all got warthogs and a banshee, and we picked up the flag, and protected the FC on the way back. It was a miracle.
