Re: Pot

You want a complete history, or do you just want to know what some people are smoking when they post?

Personally, I'd like to know the latter sometimes.  mad

Doesnt that kinda mess you up if you want a job that does drug testing?

Not unless he doesn't stop a bit over a month before he takes the test.

Re: Pot

Drugs are bad for you, but then again, so is alcohol and loud music and women (they are the worst for you), so I do all of them. For drugs though, only pot, nothing else, never will. Also, it has to be rolled or in a glass pipe, I'm picky. Nothing that contains aluminium, like a pop can. I also turn it down more than I do it, like today, I turned it town. I don't need it, it's only the afternoon, and I treat it more like drinking. Special occations only.

No job anywhere near here does that... they'd probably have to fire 80% of their employee's.

Personally, I think it's stupid to test. What hard does it do if one smokes a joint on the weekend to your company? Just tell them you have an addiction to poppy seed bagles.

My current employer does not test-nor has any company that I've ever worked for, or will.  I personally consider 'drug testing' to be a clear violation of my constitutional right against being subjected to illegal search and seizure as defined by the 4th amendment.

That's not to say I don't think it's valid as an employment requirement for people who are responsible for the safety of others (transportation, law enforcement, medical workers, etc.) as long as it's presented before employment begins.

The real injustice in 'drug testing' is that someone could be a functional alcoholic and pass a drug test with ease yet still be an even greater danger to others.

I think companies have the right to make sure they have drug free workers.

Re: Pot

I've smoked it since I was 16 (I turn 32 on the 24th of this month) but have pretty much given it up now.  The last time I smoked it was a single joint on Christmas Eve with my brother.  Contrary to popular belief, pot is very easy to give up, as long as you want to.

I think it depends on the field in question.

Re: Pot

Most companies are actually worried most about employees who are high hurting themselves, especially factory workers who work around dangerous equipment.  They don't want the liability. When I worked in the ER and someone came in with an on-the-job injury, the first tests they got were blood alcohol and a drug screen.

Do you have medical insurance through your work?  If you do, you probably signed something saying you don't use illegal substances.  If you come up positive or refuse the test, your chances of getting workman's comp or winning a settlement against the company are in serious jeopardy, and you may even get stuck with the medical bills.
