The Rulz v1.2.0

Hopefully this won't be too painful, and it really is just a bunch of common sense stuff.  These rules are specifically written for the Games forum and may or may not apply to the other MAF forums.  These are for everybody's well being as a forum dweller, so please be kind and heed them.  So here it is, if you have any suggestions or complaints then PM me about it for my consideration or start a thread about it so we can all discuss:

The Rulz
=======

Be excellent to one another.  All in all, you are decent people that I'm proud to hang with.  Name calling is unacceptable... you ass blasting moronic pant loads of foolsbane!  ...Er... I mean... like THAT.  You know who your friends are and what you can call them.  Do not threaten anyone.
Please do not post links to warez or abandonware or participate in this activity by directing people to it etc.  Ditto with porn.  (In fact, I'll just collect everybody's pron collection right now.)  Please don't ask us for CD cracks or how to fool a game into recognizing a disk image as if it were a CD.  We understand why someone with a laptop on battery power would want to run with a disk image but normally the disk is accessed only on startup or rarely during the game.  The savings is minimal at best for honest folks and the technique is most valuable to people who have pirated the game.
Please refrain from advertising or selling, otherwise known as spamming.  You can sell your games at IMG.
Religion and politics should be discussed in the Ministry of Free Thought, not here in Games.
Please do not filter dodge.  If you have to cuss, just spell it out correctly, the filters will work best that way.  Currently they will replace any swear word with "smurf".
Avoid posting large graphics with the [img] tag, please use the [url]tag instead.  You can combine the two to make a smaller clickable image.  Try to avoid posting anything wide or high enough to screw up the format of the forum.
   Before you start a new thread, do a search to see if your subject matter is being discussed in a current thread.  Also, please don't reply to very old posts.  These are called zombies.  If you have some genuinely new information to add then feel free to create a new thread.
Spoilers...

Because many people really really hate spoilers it is only common courtesy spare these folks from inadvertently reading a spoiler in your post.  Please be kind to your fellow MAF reader and preface any spoiler with something akin to the following:

========== [ SPOILER ] ==========

It doesn't have to look exactly like that, just big and red and have the word spoiler in it.  For any of you n00bs out there wondering what I'm talking about, "spoiler" is defined as any graphic, link or text that will give away a plot twist, an ending to a game or story, or other important surprise feature of a game or it's story.  This mostly relates to new games just released, but can be applied games in the making if you have some sort of inside information not released publicly by the authors or publishers.  Now keep in mind the definition is weighted towards the story /plot side but some people want to go into a game completely cold so use your best judgment.

Things that can be freely discussed about a new game are the specs, the system requirements, the background, information about the company and their employees and especially speculation as to what the game will be.  Most people love to speculate about a new game before it is released.  Feel free.  No warnings needed with speculation.

Try to think about a game as if it were a book or a movie.  Please don't give away anything that would be a surprise or spoil the fun for another.

That is about all the oppression I can think of for now, but as soon as you guys start having fun again I'm sure I'll come up with another rule to squash the joy out of you.

Bullet points fixed

Re: The Rulz v1.2.0

Those are good rules. Anyway, I would just like to add be nice with the image tag. Don't post anything large and please host the image from your own space.

Re: The Rulz v1.2.0

I want to reinforce that the img tag is a nice utility but one that should be used judiciously. Please keep the size down, refrain from postcount++, and be aware that all the rules do apply to them (such as profanity).

PS: I fixed the links in the top post, I think, if that matters.

Re: The Rulz v1.2.0

Fixed the whole issue with it referring to being able to turn off the censor. Can't have none of that swearing business around here.
