Any guitar players?
Anyone play guitar? I've got an Alvarez electric, black, with a Floyd Rose tremolo (which I never use). It's got a cut-away, so you can whammy backwards (which is horrible on your strings). It's from the 70's, that's all I know.
I have a Fender Princeton 65 amp, with a 12" speaker. It's noisy. I have a junky Crate practice amp, too. It sounds like something a local punk band would use in a recording studio. It's that bad.
I have a digitech RP12 processor, a Danelectro compressor (SWEET SOUND!), and an overdrive by the same company. I have a Morely wah.
I like to play bluesy-type stuff on it, and I'm interested in recording into Garageband. Anyone had any success with that?

Yes. As soon as my Mac is back online, I'll post my rendition of "What Child Is This?"

Re: Any guitar players?
I have a cool Yamaha acoustic guitar that I bagged used for $100CDN. Tremendous sound.
But since I'm a drummer, I kinda still suck at guitar but I'm going to lessons.

We had one of these threads before. But of course, it's gone now.
Yeah, it's been a while, but I play a little.

I don't play guitar, but anyone that's interested in bone crunching, head banging metal will be sad to know about the untimely passing of Dimebag Darrell, former guitarist of Pantera. He was gunned down at his new band's show.

WTF?!?! Are you kidding me?!?! I hadn't heard that! If that is true, this is absolutely a sad time for metal...

So... how easy is it to play guitar, anyway? Is it one of those talent things where you either have it, or you don't?

Nah. Cuz I'm right in the middle. I play pretty wll. Enough to impress most non-guitar players. But I've kinda hit a road block. I never planned on being a rock star tho.
I've got a late 70's strat but the frets are almost completely shot in places
I've got an acoustic guild that's nearly as old as the strat that I got from my Mother-in-law. She bought it used when she went to bible camp as a teen and then never played it again.
I've got a no-model Gibson acoustic that's smurfing badass but cracked everywhere. BIG cracks. It still plays like a champ. My favorite guitar.
An Ovation composite back acoustic/electric that I got in my coffee shop phase. I hate that smurfing guitar. It's in MUCH better condidtion than any of my others but I never play it.
I've also got a cheap nylon string that's currently on loan to a hippie in a tent and a cheap bass that I can't even remember the brand.
Next buy might be a Koto or Gu Zheng. I don't suppose anybody knows bout these? It's the stringed insturment played in many kung fu type movies.

Re: Any guitar players?
Gibson SG faded wood (beautiful guitar)
Abilene tele copycat (beatiful POS)
peavey tele copycat (eh)
decent acoustic guitar (eh)
yamaha classical with built-in pickups and mic (my sweatheart)
Fender P-Bass (neck is bent but being fixed)
Line 6 POD with pedal board( love and hate it)
and other assorted goodies
Garageband is good for simple easy recording and slight adjustments. Major editing cannot be done with it, at least I don't do it.
Guitar is an instrument that is extremely easy to learn and extremely hard to master.

Re: Any guitar players?
I've started using Garageband just recently. I use the direct out of my amp into an iMic (Traynor Custom Valve-80). I've been having some trouble with programming stuff like drums (Garageband's interface with programming MIDI stuff is absolutely awful and counter-intuitive, IMO), but I should be able to use it a bit more easily once I get a MIDI-capable keyboard.
Anyone have any experience with the Keystation 49e?

Yes. I play. But keys are my main instrument.
In the bottom left of the picture is the headstock of a Takamine acoustic/electric. Behind the neck in the picture is a Fender practice amp.

Yeah, I think I had posted a pic of the studio once before with the lamps in it and you had mentioned that. Of course, that was probably in the last year so there will be no proof of it.

I thought that I remembered posting that before, but I wasn't sure if I was really remembering, or having some kind of posting dejavu.
