The New Special Events Thread

We're way overdue for some. Ideas, proposals? This is the place.

Wizard Needs Food, Bad.

How about alternate between all the gametypes with Wizard and shotguns?

Anything that has the phrase "demo derby" in it.  BG has some good open areas and lots of hogs.

Big neon Xmas trees on top of each base, and smaller tree-shaped flags!

And a sound effect like needles falling off like on "A Charlie Brown Xmas" for everytime you nab the flag.

So if this weekend is supposed to be a special events weekend, can we get some times and events?

I need to know what I'm setting up, first.

Then keep in mind that I work until about 6pm Central on Sat, so it'll have to be after that.

I don't see anyone bettering my suggestion in the first 4 posts here... the only problem is Macs crashing on Overpower when the map changes. If we address that somehow, we're jake, I think, altho DD on Infinity as well as NMC would be great. (I still wanna try Scorps on Infinity someday... whaa )

Overpower on NMC or Infinity [envisions chaingun rocket volleys on NMC's freeway...]? Team Race? The possibilities we've never exploited... they're unlimitless! Let's settle on something and do it.

I remember the Mac Halo crashing problem finally being resolved.  But then again, I don't remember why I just came into the room.  So... never mind.

You do? If it was, then we should be able to run whatever rotation seems best.

Re: The New Special Events Thread

Maybe I'm remembering that the map was changed to make it work for the Mac after an initial run of not being able to see the shots or do damage to anyone on a PC.

I'd settle for the Overpower Blood Gulch with a crash at the start.  It's a freakin' great map.

Re: The New Special Events Thread

Yeah, that's what I remember- it works, and keeps working if the map doesn't change. You have to restart the map everytime Overpower starts, so a rotation is a pain... maybe BG/OP could be set X number of consecutive times, then a change to other maps? Much less inconvenient.

Anyway, Icks should be home by now. Hello out there in IA?

Re: The New Special Events Thread

Damn. I thought Icks was to be home at 6?

Well, no special event tonight. Hopefully some regular play yet tonight? (I could be ready in a bit...)

As I've suggested before, I suggest again we make weekends special events on a regular, perhaps rotating, basis... I'll look on the fileserver for the maps soon, try to post links.

This appears to be jeap's modified Overpower mod directory...

...then NMC:

Re: The New Special Events Thread

Apparently the great centralized info thread needs reconstructing, too... you can check the server status at

http://www.nontent.net/halo_query/index … ;port=2302

...or by means of one or 2 or 3 desktop trackers folks have posted (and need to repost).

If you look in the Important Stuff thread at the top I posted the desktop tracker info there.  Mac only, though the same links and options should carry over to PC
