Website Development Thread
I thought I'd bring this thread back, even though I'm trying to keep my webdev progress logs, suggestions, etc hiding away at http://halo.clanmacaddict.com/phpBB2
If you have ideas, suggestions, complaints, or offerings of help, please either submit them here or, preferably, submit them at the link I provided above.

Yeah, it's definitely not working for me, either.

Re: Website Development Thread
The color scheme is just the sub_Black theme. MAF has it installed too.
As for people having errors, there are still a few bugs I'm working out. When you login or out, it comes up with an error page, but it does log you in/out. Just delete everything after the /phpBB2/ part of the link, and reload. It comes up just fine. I'm still trying to figure out if that's an issue with the forum, or if its a module that I need to plug in or something. If you guys are seeing bugs in other places, let me know where and I'll try to recreate the bug on my machine.
[edit]After writing that, I discovered I couldn't even access the forums. I'm seeing MySQL database issues (oh lord...). I'm gonna try again now.

Re: Website Development Thread
What do you like? The forums? The forums tha tno one could get into, so I deleted them?
Don't worry, guys, there wasn't anything big there anyway. I had maybe three posts of ideas and progress updates there, and I haven't had tons of time to do anything web-related in the last couple of months anyhow.

Re: Website Development Thread
I wrote about it on the website, but I feel I should mention it here too. Because of Kirtana's new wireless router that I set up, the IP address for the fileserver changed. I went through the website and changed the links to reflect the new IP address, and I changed my domain redirection for AtevenCS.com (which is used in a lot of the links I've posted) so that other links will still work.
However, those of you with FTP access will need to know the new IP address in order to access the server. I don't want to just blurt it out, so I'm sending an email to those of you who I can think of that have access and use it (if you had access and don't get an email, PM me).

Have you even tried it?

The web server is seperate from the file server. We're hosted on the main clanmacaddict web server.

Re: Website Development Thread
News on the site, but I'll just give a quick sum-up here: the file server is coming back, and with a vengeance, but it'll be a week or so. I'm preparing to do an annual format-reinstall of Windoze (this is why I like having so much open hdd space!)

You too? I've gone 18 months or so, but the A64 upgrade inches ever closer. Been pretty sick the last couple days, tho.
Now it's only 18 months behind the curve

Re: Website Development Thread
18 months is still better than what I'm running on (P4 2.66GHz from 2003). But yeah, after hearing about Sony's rootkit catastrophy, I decided to run a rootkit sniffer, and found tons of crap hiding away on my compy. That's why I've been scarce on Halo; I just don't want to risk spreading anything.
So right now I'm going through stuff, backing it up onto the 300GB drive, scrubbing the registry before I make a backup of it, and then wiping the system drive and rebuilding. I created a slipstreamed SP2 disk, but it'll still need updates since that service pack was released. Then I threw in a bunch of stuff I normally use, like Firefox, so I wouldn't have to either redownload them or dig for other disks I've got them stored on.
With all that I've already done to help make this easier, I'm optimistic that this whole process shouldn't take more than a few days. As I reinstall things like Office, games, etc, the fileserver will already be up and chugging, so you guys should only notice that I'm not on Halo for a bit longer.

Re: Website Development Thread
I'm doing much the same thing. Dunno if I'll go as far as this, but I'll email some potentially useful stuff I found about for getting the machine as updated as possible before connecting to the Net, FWIW.
Yup. SP2, chipset drivers, peripheral drivers, Firefox/TBird, Spybot, ZoneAlarm, AVG or whatever equivs you run plus a bunch of individually downloadable updates. Coming soon.
Oh, what the same money could buy for performance now...
