United we stand?

As I mentioned in my "Damage Control thread, I think we may need to abolish the individual division forums and become united (we would post in this forum, or in XP&G. Clearly, the divisions have shrunk to the point that theey are no longer beneficial, but a severe drawback to the clan.

I want to know how many people would be okay with this idea. Since I am in X squad, I'd especially like to see some Omega people respond, too.

Re: United we stand?

I'm in favor of anything that gets more people playing.  It's been quite a while since I saw another MA person on a server - I think Og was the last one, or maybe Kirk.  I sometimes see other MA people in my buddy list, but not often, and usually they're playing ONS somewhere (which I still haven't developed a taste for yet).

I prefer open play to tourneys, since the organizational challenges and schedule requirements make it less appealing to me.

I don't really see how combining squads is going to change anything, but if it does I'm willing to give it a try.

Frag me!!!!!!!

Re: United we stand?

I'd surely miss the Omega Forum; I've been dumping intimate stuff on my friends there for years. If it would help motivate the Clan, I'd be for it; I'm just not sure what the benefits would be.

I'm sorry I haven't felt up for the Thursday night {O} Frag Party lately. Wednesday nights I'm in a bereavement group which has helped me deal with my Mom's passing. The meeting takes me away from my wife for most of the night, so by Thursday night I've lately just wanted to crawl in bed by 8 PM. I'll try to show up this week, if anyone wants free frags off a rusty Brain.

Re: United we stand?

I know it will be hard to leave behind the individual squad forums, but we need to do it. In fact, we only have about 5 people who post in the X squad forums anymore.

Re: United we stand?

Sorry to say merging the forums/squads is not going to get more peeps to play. That is up to the individuals... something about leading a horse to water comes to mind. Everyone treats gaming different and you can see it for your self here. After clicking the link type [MA] in the name search. The whole division is spread out. Some have just a couple hours of online play while others have a whole workweek put in. Back in the old days we had the numbers (volume) that made it easy to play with other MAers. Looking at that list I just sent you to one can see we only have a couple dozen players and less than half of them are active.

Here are what I think our problems are:
1) Volume of players.
2) The small numbers we do have are spread across all time zones. (At 8PM my time, Kirk is just finishing up dinner and Doc, BJ, Brain are thinking about going to bed.)
3) Finally, our small numbers are cut even more if you exclude the casual players (players with less than 20 hours).

All this adds up to one disappointing fact. It is very hard to find/play with other MAers online.

If I see a MAer in the buddy list I'm there. Game type matters little. In the last couple of weeks I've played with Og, OSFG, Doc and most recently Gas.

If I don't see any MAers then I'm playing with XMG, RA or G5.

you forgot to add, alot of the guys that play in the clan also play in 1 or more divisions. so in a way, that takes away people to play with. (not like theres anything wrong with playing other games) but when there playing MoH or wow, thats one less person to frag against.

but, its the 1st point levi made, volume!

...

D'oh! Yeah totally true.

We're no longer a one trick pony. When members sit down to play they have several options to pick from. I know at times it's tough for me too. "Hmmm do I wanna do Halo, UT2K4, or Doom 3 tonight."

Re: United we stand?

Don't put words in my mouth and don't think for me, please.

No we're not dead. I am a gamer. I don't golf, play basketball or any other kind of ball for that matter. Well maybe a lil paintball once or twice a year. I don't go to the bar after work. I come home spend time with the family, get the kids bathed, read to and put to bed. After that the night is mine. Most of that time I spend gaming in some form. Majority of it is spent with UT2K4. Then there are the few nights where I'll play UT2K4 for a couple hours in hopes that another MAer will join me or I'll see someone online. If that doesn't happen I've quit UT2K4 and played FarCry for an hour. I've done that twice this week. Still UT2K4 is on top and getting the most attention. In all honesty I feel bad that I don't have the most hours played in UT2K4. I feel that being the leader I should, but I don't. I do on the other hand have the highest overall score. I know that if I could spend a couple days playing I'd have the most hours put in as well. I'm ok with being in the top 5 hours wise. I know the stats are not that accurate but we all have played on non-stat servers.
