Final Cut Pro Acting Buggy

I have 2.0, and it's been awhile since I've used it.  I sporadically make videos for people in need.  This one is a 50th anniversary montage video.

I know that I have set the still frames to 6:00 seconds, but when I drag and drop them into the timeline from the bin, they are 7:00 seconds long.  I don't know why and it's pretty frustrating.

Any help here?  I set the still frame under preferences to 6:00.

another problem I had was when i went back and manually set all the pictures to around 6 seconds, there were strange overlaps and artifacts.  I would scroll the timeline across and then try to edit a clip's motion settings, but the image would not appear in the monitor unless I changed some setting (like zoom).. a picture from before would stay in the monitor until I made the change.

I don't know why.  Both of these minor problems are wasting many many minutes, so any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks!

What would you do if I sang out of tune?  Would you laugh and then beat me to a pulp?

Re: Final Cut Pro Acting Buggy

I think there's a preference that makes handles appear on any footage you import or create.  By create, I am talking about stills or whatever.  You might have 15 frame handles set up.

An easy way to change the duration of everything on a timeline would be to select it all at once and then control click it and change the duration.  They should all go to whatever time you want.  If they're all of a different duration to begin with, they'll only scale down, or won't work at all.
