Re: Subway vs Quiznos
Of course at Blimpies you can actually watch them cut the meat for your sandwich.
Yes, but can you watch them cut the cheese? There's the rub.

Re: Subway vs Quiznos
I don't care for Subway. The meat always tastes rubbery, and even when I tell them to leave off stuff, they somehow manage to 'accidentally' get a little bit on it.
I grew up on Togo's; I love Togo's. My favorites were the #9 (cold) and the #23. Sadly, the closest Togo's to me now is in Chicago, and I can't see myself driving 5 hours for a sandwich. Unless I were to go visit my friends in Tinley Park.
The closest thing I can get to Togo's is Quizno's, so I go when I get paid, usually ever other week.

Re: Subway vs Quiznos
We just got our first Subway in Budapest in August, I was soo excited when it opened. Some 25ish year old American guy opened it, must be making serious cash as it's always busy and I've already seen him in there having meetings with people about opening new branches.
It was the same when I lived in Taiwan, there was one in our city and almost all of the foreigners in town went there for lunch just about everyday and paid extremely inflated prices for sandwiches.
There's a business tip to anyone who has the cash to start one up, do it in a country that doesn't have any yet.

Re: Subway vs Quiznos
Between the two I choose Quiznos. Subway just has too much bread for the ingredients they put in a sub.
You can ask them to double everything they put on there except the meat for no charge at all, they will.

Re: Subway vs Quiznos
I won't say Subway is great, but I like it better than Quiznos. Quiznos has a lot of good looking ingredients, but their sandwiches really seem to be lacking something.
Yeah, like toppings.
Why is it that when you order a sub from Quizno's, you're stuck with the very little amount of vegetables that come with it? Maybe some lettuce and onions and sauce, but nothing else.
The only sub I really like from Quizno's, is their veggie lite. Because it has everything that their other subs lack
But I love Subway. Lots of variety, and you can pile on all the veggies you want.
Edited to add: I'm surprised at how many of you have said that Subway's subs are bland or soggy or what not. I've never had that problem here. Maybe it's an American thing.

Re: Subway vs Quiznos
For me it matters the quality of the restaurant/employees. There are some good subways, and some bad quiznos, but for the most part I like quiznos better. Their stuff tastes better, and it's cooked

First off i will say i won't ever eat at Quiznos. Rodents in food ads just taints my opinion of the restaurant.
Now, the only thing i hear people say about why Quiznos is so good is because they toast the sandwiches, but now Subway is doing that as well. Seems to me, Subway may give Quiznos some heavy competition now, not that they didn't already, but now even moreso.
I could not agree more. I used to love Quiznos, but ever since those ads hit I cannot eat there.

My wife feels the same way. We used to go to Quiznos on a semi-regular basis, but ever since the sponge monkey ads ran I have only been able to convince her to go back once.
Personally I enjoyed the sponge monkey ads. I think they were funny.

Here is where the sponge monkeys originated . . .

Re: Subway vs Quiznos
As I recall, those fast food delis LITERALLY have mystery meat. Everything is presliced and placed in small plastic containers. You might know what type of meatish flavor your meat has, but you don't know where it came from. Chain delis buy meats from large scale distributors... not multiple smaller local specialty distributors with quality fresh foods.
I don't know very much about South Australian delis... but in San Francisco or New York I'd advise this...
Find a deli owned by a 65 year old Italian man. If hanging salamis are used as decoration, you've found a good deli. Ask the Italian man if his food is better then Subway. Prepare to be beaten by a decorative salami;)
I don't know about San Francisco or New York, but there aren't many delis here run by 65 year old Italian men with salamis used as decoration.
And even the, how do you know what's in those salamis? How are they any more reliable than any other preprocessed meat?

Small local specialty meats producer... or Hormel.
The food from the small shop usually looks better and tastes better. Nuff said.

Aye, it's true. Canadians make better everything.

The salami I like is made with beef marinated in red wine mixed with mustard seeds and various herbs and spices.
But If I was really curious about the salami construction process -- the factory isn't too far away.

Re: Subway vs Quiznos
It's all about the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki at Subway. Yum. I've not liked what I've had at Quizno's at all.
I eat a lot of Subway summers when I work, mostly because it's less unhealthy than others options (no Quizno's in my town anyway). They had a GREAT 2 footlongs for $8 after 5 PM and all day Sunday deal for awhile.. that was great! $4 each and the 2 of us working had plenty of food... And you use that deal twice, and you have your card full for a free 6" with drink purchase! I hear the deal is Sundays only now, though.

I'm pretty sure they were rat fetuses... heh I *LOVED* those commercials.
Just wanted to add, I detest Togos, the one in my town in AWFUL, and I am not willing to pay more compared to Subway for smaller sandwiches.
Now Safeway... THAT is a good sandwich! Expensive, but unlike Togos, enough better a quality to be worth it!

Re: Subway vs Quiznos
I prefer Quiznos because of their variety of sandwiches in addition to the fact that they toast them. Though recently subway started toasting their subs aparently, I still have not gone back to subway since the opening of a local Quiznos.
