Wireless PC cards
Hi all,
I'm buying my brother a wireless card for his ~1 year old G4 powerbook and I was wondering if I can use standard cards (PCMCIA 802.11b) or if I need to get him an airport.
I've tried looking all around for this info, and can't find anything about Mac drivers on Linksys and D-link support pages, so any help would be great.
Thanks,
David

Re: Wireless PC cards
I know some non AirPort PC cards will work in the PowerBooks, though I am not sure which ones, and I am really not in the mood to look around tonight
Perhaps some other night..

Re: Wireless PC cards
All Mac's prior to the new 12' and 17' PBG4's use apple's 11mb/s airport card, it looks like a standard PCCard (though it is not). It fits into a slot inside the powerbook just under the pc card slot. Go to apple's website and click on store, they have them on sale for around $70.
There are 3rd party cards that will work but it is not worth the hassle, they are mainly geared towards older 98 and 99 model powerbooks that did not have an airport card slot.
