ONE MORE EDIT: jesus failed to fulfill the messiah prophecies because he failed to crush the roman empire and bring peace to the jews... that's why the jews crucified him- because he didn't meet the prophecies so he couldn't be the messiah.

I've always taken the whole talking to God thing as a sign of arrogance. Think about it, in the Bible there are only a few people who actually spoke directly to God. What makes someone in our day and age such as a President or a preacher in middle america feel so confident that they belong in the same company as Moses and Jesus?
It's interesting because the whole 'relationship with God' thing is a page straight out of imperial China and the 'Mandate of Heaven'. Of course a leader would see the benefits of saying God talks to him. ESPECIALLY if he is facing criticism from some of his people.
Besides, isn't one of the 'signs' of the anti-christ supposed to be that he claims to be in close union with God? I'm not saying Bush is the anti-christ, but if it were me I'd be careful about making claims of such 'strength' in my spiritual belief and status.

What are your thoughts on the "Talking to God" topic? If the president (or someone else) were to come to you and report a powerful conversation and were pretty sure it was from the Lord, how would you confirm that?

yes but the president's own interests are heavenly, not earthly. the man has "pre-emptively" fueled a holy war that is basically christain ideals against muslim ideals, using innocent life as chess pieces in this "righteous battle against evil" that dubya has crowned himself the leader of.

only bush can determine that. either way, the man is either a disillusioned mental patient (hears voices from god) or a cunning liar (exploits religion to gain power).
