Of course Dubya is talking to God. Everyone knows the God of the Old Testament is a smurfing smurf.

1) Are you saying God talks only to Texans?
2) Are you suggesting that Satan doesn't?
3) Are you saying that being a Texan means you'll hear voices in your heads?
4) Are you slamming Texans for any particular reason?
5) Are you saying God gives a crap about man-made geopolitical borders?
6) Are you suggesting that one's place of residence dictates whether God will talk to them or not?
7) Are you nuts?

Jesus isn't called the Prince of Peace because He urges political leaders to engage in war
Why is he called the Prince of Peace?
Do you know why?

You can twist and interpret scripture to support almost any opinion. It's almost as easy as lying with statistics.

ONE MORE EDIT: jesus failed to fulfill the messiah prophecies because he failed to crush the roman empire and bring peace to the jews... that's why the jews crucified him- because he didn't meet the prophecies so he couldn't be the messiah.

Oh I don't know about that. Rome did fine and was at their peak when they were pagans. After they embraced Christianity, it went downhill from there. So I guess you could say JC brought them down from the inside.

Re: God's talking to you? You sure about that?
I've always taken the whole talking to God thing as a sign of arrogance. Think about it, in the Bible there are only a few people who actually spoke directly to God. What makes someone in our day and age such as a President or a preacher in middle america feel so confident that they belong in the same company as Moses and Jesus?
It's interesting because the whole 'relationship with God' thing is a page straight out of imperial China and the 'Mandate of Heaven'. Of course a leader would see the benefits of saying God talks to him. ESPECIALLY if he is facing criticism from some of his people.
Besides, isn't one of the 'signs' of the anti-christ supposed to be that he claims to be in close union with God? I'm not saying Bush is the anti-christ, but if it were me I'd be careful about making claims of such 'strength' in my spiritual belief and status.

jax... a more precise sign of the "anti-christ" would be Massachusetts gay-marriage issue and its proponents!

Seriously, in the whole order of importance I'd say a guy with access to the big red button that claims to talk to God regularly is far more dangerous than dudes kissin'.

What are your thoughts on the "Talking to God" topic? If the president (or someone else) were to come to you and report a powerful conversation and were pretty sure it was from the Lord, how would you confirm that?

I love Camp David so much.
To address stoned seriously, I'm not aware that our president has ever done anything that didn't directly serve his own interests. He has many character flaws, but I'm not worried that he's listening to anyone spookier than Karl Rove. It's certainly amazing to me that both secular libertarians and evangelical Christians have been convinced that the Republican Party actually represents them...

yes but the president's own interests are heavenly, not earthly. the man has "pre-emptively" fueled a holy war that is basically christain ideals against muslim ideals, using innocent life as chess pieces in this "righteous battle against evil" that dubya has crowned himself the leader of.

Re: God's talking to you? You sure about that?
Just to refresh everyone's memory ...
the Israeli paper Haaretz (online), that Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Abu Mazen, meeting recently with militants to enlist their support for a truce with Israel, said that, when they met in Aqaba, President Bush had told him this: " God told me to strike at al Qaeda and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam [ Hussein], which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them."
Now, there's some uncertainty about the translation, but there are indeed plenty of people who could well say something like that and mean it. But is it really God?

I think you're giving him way too much credit when you accuse him of sincerity. He does what he wants to do, and finds religious justification after the fact.

I think the question is: does Bush really hear voices from God? Or does he say so in order to sound more sincere?

No, I think Richard the Lionheart beat him to it. (and guess what, some people say he was gay to boot) Doesn't that make you're head want to explode Campy?

only bush can determine that. either way, the man is either a disillusioned mental patient (hears voices from god) or a cunning liar (exploits religion to gain power).
