I need iFourtrack and iDrummer

Yes, this is somewhat of a redundant thread, but it's slightly different.  I play bass and dabble on other instruments.  I'd like to mess around with recording on my Mac, but I don't want to shell out a few hundred bucks in software and or hardware for side projects that I will no doubt never finish. wink

I had downloaded protools free, but was daunted by it.  Is there an app that'll do what I want?  I'm not looking for sequencing or sampling... yet.  Well, at least no more than I'd need to program a drum track (program like Trent not like Alanis).

So that brings me to where I am now.  Is there such an app that anyone knows about?  It doesn't need to be ultra-hard-core, just barebones and simple like an iApp would be.  Anyone?

Re: I need iFourtrack and iDrummer

According to some sources, Apple is about to launch a new audio production application that will probably be called "iTraks" (or "iTracks"? sources spell it "iTraks" though). That will be the first result of the purchase of Emagic by Apple. Actually it will be a "metal-brushed" version of Logic Audio with less features. Logic Audio will remain available as a professional audio tool.

Another source not only confirms the existence of a project that may be finally called "iTraks", but adds some details:
- iTraks will allow recording of 8 audio tracks and multiple midi tracks
                                                                                                 - it will accept plug-ins and some of them will be offered as standard
- it's finalized and it may even be announced for MWSF or later in late January at the NAMM show.
                                                                                                 - it will probably not be a free iApp.

The same last source also talks about an USB audio production interface that will allow 2 record channels and 6 speaker out channels. Emagic already offers this product as "emi 2/6" but it should be re-branded and redisigned by Apple or simply bundled with Apple's new software.

from http://www.macosxrumors.com.  although this would be very cool, i am extremely skeptical.

Re: I need iFourtrack and iDrummer

I'm skeptical too, but I'll cross my fingers.  If it includes a drum machine, I'm sold.
