Jedi Academy 1.01c beta 1 patch
I'd like to wrap up the next Jedi Academy patch and get it finalized, so I would appreciate some help testing it, particularly in multiplayer situations.

Re: Jedi Academy 1.01c beta 1 patch
Boonta Eve works great now, thanks! I also like how it asks for the CD before launching, to remind me. Not sure if I noticed any change in the dynamic glow, but I did see the effect the glow had on the swoops, never noticed it before. And the new MOD support should make porting larger mods (i.e. JA+ clientside) easier to install and use.

Ouch. The download was going at .1k/sec for about 5 minutes, its just finally going up to 5k/sec now.

Uh oh. Not sure if IronMonkey will be able to play now, this seems to kill the ability to use a disk image to run the game, so IronMonkey won't be able to play it until he gets his CD back from wherever it was
Also, the MAX_PATCH_PLANES doesn't seem to be fixed with the Helms Deep map, just letting you know.

I tested it against all the maps that were reported to have problems, and that wasn't one of them. ;-)
Edit: I found a file called ffa_helpsdeep.pk3, dated 4/27/03, on LucasFiles.com. It doesn't give me a MAX_PATCH_PLANES error in 1.01c, but it does have some serious texturing issues (as in, it can't find a lot of them).
If you're referring to another map, I'll need a URL. If this is the one you're testing, I'd suggest double-checking to make sure you're using the 1.01c beta.
If there are other maps that have MAX_PATCH_PLANES problems, mention them now or odds are it'll be another year before I get around to patching Jedi Academy, if ever. :-)

Well, if it disables me, I probably just won't download it as the game seems great already.
Interesting how things turn out isn't it?

Just to follow-up, I tried this pk3 on my PC and it has the same texturing problems, which is good, I guess.
Anyway, as far as I can tell, the new Mac build is working as expected for everything I can throw at it.

Re: Jedi Academy 1.01c beta 1 patch
Really? Odd. I absolutely know the version im running is 1.01c, I checked it in the info window, then opened it up. Maybe I have an older version of the map than you have. Its no big deal, I'm not sure if its a good map or anything anyway, I was just letting you know.

Re: Jedi Academy 1.01c beta 1 patch
The fact tthat this patch disables the ability to use a disc image is a real shame. It makes the patch useless to me. Yes, I bought the game, but I carry a laptop and dont feel like lugging the cd around.
I will never use this patch.
Why am I, a paying customer, being punnished for wanting to use a disc image?
Really, really bad mojo.

Re: Jedi Academy 1.01c beta 1 patch
Just an update, I found my disk but it still would be nice to play without lugging it around and also with out hearing the insescant buzzing of the disk drive. (okay, whirring.) but I'd still really rather not use it the patch.

Yeah same here. Even when I made a complete disk image of my disk it didn't work, and when I locked it.
