Seti on X

What does seti install on X? I haven't run the installer yet because it asks for the admin passwd and I would like to know what it is doing to my system before I let the it run.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Seti on X

it basically installs the same items as Seti for OS 9
an application "SETI@home_OSX"
a documentation folder "SETI@home_Docs" (on mine both are in the applications folder, yet strangely seperate), and
a "Seti@home_Data" folder (in ~/Library/Application Support) that contains the .sah files which seti uses to store critical files
and of course a preference file

the only thing that X puts on your system that isnt on 9 is an uninstaller which is in the Seti@home_Docs folder...... the reason for this is because applications dont uninstall quite the sameway that they do on OS 9

there may be some other "hidden files" but if there are I dont know about them sadly.  Sorry if thats the case.

One thing that you may need to know is if you have multiple users, setiathome keeps the same settings users dont get to individualize any settings and further more the screensaver can turn on without anyone being logged in unlike the system screensavers.

I hope that tells you what you want to know.
