Re: Post your Mac pictures here please!
OK - not a mac, but don't want to start a whole new thread.
Just moved my computer into the small bedroom and made it into an office - so everything is neat and stuff - well, almost neat and stuff - so here are the pictures and stuff
The Computer Desk
I bought this computer desk shortly after I bought my beige G3 (which was bought new - a 233 - to give you an idea of the age of the desk)
This is the top part of the desk.
The speakers are crap $5.00 speakers - I need better.
In front of the left speaker is a coaster for drinks and stuff.
You can't see it because of black on black - but in front of the right speaker is Tria's old TI86 and a Dazzle USB 2.0 card reader (bought at Radio Shack - Phy would be proud) - and another cup coaster.
The very top -
Those are my three penguins, a wireless phone (there's no phone line in the office), an inspirational picture, and behind that - my checkbook. Yoda sits on top of the monitor.
The bottom of the desk -
The very bottom is my power bar. No UPS - I should get one. In the compartment above designed for a printer is currently just the charger for my camera battery. Eventually a Mac Mini will sit in there.
In the compartment designed for a CPU is a LaCie 9GB SCSI hard drive. Oldie but Goodie. Seagate drive - very happy with it.
Here is the profile of the computer desk -
You can see the homebuilt PC to the left of it. I don't put it in the desk because of air flow concerns.
-=-=-=-=-
Since this move of my stuff to the office is new - here's the rest of it.
Bookshelves. This bookshelf is on the wall to the right of the workstation:
That one is the best organized at the moment.
Very bottom shelf is for stuff like cdr's and dvd-r's.
Here are the other two bookshelves in the room - not quite as well organized yet. Between them is a digital scale.
-=-
Here is my LaserJet. That's actually not where it currently is, but where it is suppose to be. Corner against opposite wall as computer
It's an HP LaserJet4 with 24MB of ram, a Postscript L2 Simm, and a JetDirect print server.
Yes - the carpet in front of it is stained. It actually looks worse in photo than it really is - I've been working at it with carpet shampooer but only just started. Before this was the office, it was a storage room - there were some papers on the floor, and they somehow got wet at some point (looks at cats and wonders ...)
The yellow cable on top of the LaserJet is a crossover cable - unplugged for the photo so I could put it where it eventually will be. I have to buy a wireless to ethernet bridge - I could just buy a longer cable, but I don't want an ethernet cable going across the floor. For now, the cart kind of semi-blocks access to the bookshelf so the printer can plug into the PC directly.
-=-
Window
This window is a PITA. It's on the south side of the house, so in middle of day (when I'm usually not home) I get glare on the monitor. I sent dimensions of window to mom, she's going to make a curtain for it.
-=-
Stereo
OK - this is not in office.
This is my stereo (not a great pick - but

A TV is suppose to go in there, but I like TV's in the living room even less than I like Computers in the living room. The small cut out above - there use to be a radio in there, but the tape deck didn't work - and you had to bang it to get both speakers to work. So I took it out and trashed it.
However - it's an excellent cubbie for my DSL modem and wireless router, since it has its own outlet.
In the very near future, I'm going to but a SqueezeBox - and feed that into stereo instead of iPod - so I can stream mp3's from my computer to my stereo. Since the router is right above stereo, I can get the wired SqueezeBox and just run a short piece of cat5 from router to Squeezebox.
-=- -=- -=-
Future plans - not sure how long it will all take.
In my guest bedroom (bigger than my tiny office) I have another computer desk exactly like the one above - except I need to do a minor repair to the keyboard drawer.
It will have a Mac Mini with a Airport Extreme and run OS X. I'm guessing September for that.
In my office, a Mac Mini for Linux will sit in my computer desk where my printer is suppose to go. It will run headless, connected to my Linux box via crossover cable (probably same one currently used for LaserJet)
In the kitchen - either a older G4 or a Shuttle PC to run Linux for my recipe software - I already have the desk there for it, that's going to happen soon. I'm thinking a G4 because I can get a used G4 (450 or 500) cheaper than I can build a shuttle PC - and it doesn't need to be a speed demon. I also have lots of PC100 ram, which I believe works fine in a 450 G4.
It will connect via an Atheros PCI card (same as my Athlon) - which is supported in Linux - though not in OS X (unless you pay money to some third party that sells one)
I'm also going to be buying fairly soon (I'm ebaying junk this week and next week) an IBM Thinkpad T22 to use on my sofa in the Living room, and use on the deck.
Well - long ass post, I know - but I'm just so happy I finally got the workstation out of the living room - it looks so much better now without it, it really was an eyesore.

Re: Post your Mac pictures here please!
I should mention about the wire mess in the stereo cabinet - that will get cleaned up once I have the Squeezebox.
one wire is phone line for DSL modem. Two are speaker wires from the speakers in the ceiling. Two are cat5 cables - one for the future squeezebox, one is so that I have a cat5 way to connect a computer to the wireless router should I ever need to (IE friend brings box over to install Linux or something)
The wires will be bundled together and stuck under a conduit so it doesn't look so messy.
The two wires coming out of that compartment are for my room speakers, I have to drill to make that look better.

A picture to put on a wall or something? No offense, but that room needs some personality.

Actually - that's planned.
I have those MS posters they gave away awhile back - the road sign ones.
I'm going to have the "Hackers Ahead" poster cut to remove the bottom (where the MS reference is) and framed, and hang it on the wall over the workstation.
A plant or two are going to go on top of the printer cart. Probably an African Violet and an Aloe Vera.

digital scale is used to determine package weight for printing postage.
It's resolution isn't good enough for weed or other substance packaging.

I think that the CD is being deceptive.
In that pic, is the white thing next to the monitor an iPod charger with a car adapter thing slid into the plug port? if so, where did you find the little slidey thing?!?

Re: Post your Mac pictures here please!
finally get to contribute to this thread. I just moved last month but i finally got all set up and borrowed a digi cam. here is my setup:
http://www.personified.net/images/apart … rdesk1.jpg
This is my main work desk. It has my powerbook (the latest release), 15" PB 1.67ghz with 1.5 gigs of ram and the ATI mobility 9700 (i think) with 128 megs of vid ram. Also shown is my 40 gig 3rd gen iPod, the isight next to it, my awesome swiss army knife, which i have used a lot recently even the saw. There is a 160 gig firewire 800 drive, the canon lide 30 scanner, and 2.1 altec lansing speakers, and a UofI shot glass on the desk lamp. Go Hawks!
I'm using apple's wireless keyboard and the BT Mouse by MacMice.com. Oh yeah, the big ole statues from Fellowship of the ring guard my PB from evil doers.
http://www.personified.net/images/apart … rdesk2.jpg
this is my other desk which i can acess easily by swivelling my chair. I have a homebuilt pc, my old powermac g3 that's been upgraded to a g4, my 17" monitor (i so want a 23" apple lcd), my netgear router, iogear KVMP switch, a logitech mouse, my HP 940c printer, some pen/pencil holders, the white city, a picture of my grandma when she was young, and an easter island statue.
http://www.personified.net/images/apart … rdesk3.jpg
this is the whole shebang as seen from my kitchen. you can see another shelf of books, mainly writing books, reference books and some computer books, a little gargoyle and a plant behind it (it just started growing)
http://www.personified.net/images/apart … rwires.jpg
mmm wires (behind the pc computer desk, the PB desk has wires but not as many)
http://www.personified.net/images/apartment/comics.jpg
these i got from a convention in '98 and got them signed by the artist. they reside above the PB desk.
EDIT: turned the images into links since they are so honking huge.

Re: Post your Mac pictures here please!
This is my home "office", actually just a corner of one of the whole two rooms that make up our flat.
My spot at work is a disaster, but the whole office is getting redone in 2 weeks so I'll try to take before and after pics.
