UTPG OS X being tested...

Ryan has let us reveal that beta testing for UTPG has begun for OS X.

You can read more here.

I usually post to the ut2kn forums (Hi Brainiac, Docb, et al), but it's more on-topic here big_smile

I've been waiting so so long for this, along with a few other people..

Good to know it is almost done.

Yup. The Preview 3 version is still the only public version so far but looks like UTPG is on the way.  up  up

Re: UTPG OS X being tested...

Does anyone know if this update is going to re-enable music?

Something I've missed for a long time since the OS X beta.

Also...if this is sucessful enough, could this patch be reworked to work with Deus Ex? That game uses the same engine as UT. How I long for a OS X Deus Ex...

From what I understand, Ryan Gordon basically did this update from the ground up, so I'm assuming it's not going to have the same problems as preview 3 did. (tho, it may have it's own completely different problems)

Re: UTPG OS X being tested...

Besides how good glide mode looked in OS 9, the music is the #1 thing I've missed.

I can pass most of the other problems with the current beta 3 aside if I just had the music.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: UTPG OS X being tested...

Music in UT isn't noob, I just like some ambient music inbween my shockrifle explosions and gib splatter noises.

Plus I actually love some of it.

Exactly. There should be so many shock rifle explosions that there's no time for music. tongue

And some of us are redeemer wh***s who teleport away from the seemingly suicidal explosion at the last minute.  *grin* ^_^  Of course, it's always good to balance that out with a sniper rifle and telefragging... it really depends on the map.  On some maps, I'm pure flak wh***.

Re: UTPG OS X being tested...

WOOOHOOO!!!

I came in here for nostalgia's sake, and what do I find? News that UT is once again on it's way to being ported to os X!! I can say that if this happens I will once again be playing SOME form of UT.

[MA]T._Axeman{ds} says: "Come get some!"

Anyhoo - my current machine is the same one I was playing UT on with all'yall 3 years ago whaa, so theres no way in hell it will run 'o3 or '04, which is unfortunate, as I found '04 quite fun on the few LAN events I was able to play it at.

So... how many people do you suspect we could get together to play utpg and ut99 with once this update ships?
