Great Levi. Glad you got rid of the obstructions in the flag rooms. I think there may be a problem though. In either base if you jump while on the stairs you are immediately killed by a laval type death. Could it be kill volumes from the wall torches extending down too far?

Re: CTF-[MA]Burning
OK. Looked at it in UEd. The only thing that I can guess is that the lava volumes on the sides are intruding into the flag room though I can't really see it in UEd. I'll try tweaking them and see what happens.
EDIT: Yup. That's what it is. The lava volumes are intruding on the flag bases.

Re: CTF-[MA]Burning
D'oh!!!
Man I watched the bots play for an hour, played myself for another hour. I guess I never got that close to the walls. What is very odd is that at times it happens really easy, then there were times I had to really work at the problem to get it to repeat.
Well it's offically Christmas, enjoy this beta then.
I'll get on it later tomorrow or day after. I'm off all week, so email me if there's more. I don't know how often I'll check back here this week.

Re: CTF-[MA]Burning
persoanlly, I'm thrilled to see this map converted to 2k4!!! you so totally rock!!
Now... picking time
the only beef I have is that there's an awful lot of eye candy happening. Smooth teh floors, the stairs are kinda weird. you've got some nasty corners to get backed into.
That's all for now.
please don't come back to 54

Re: CTF-[MA]Burning
...
Well it's kinda the point with 2K4.
Some eye candy is there for just that, some has to be there. No, I didn't have to use terrain, but it's one of the newest and greatest features in this version of UT. Static meshes are cool because they only have to load once per mesh. Like the block floor is one mesh put down about 12 times, but the engine only has to load it once.
The terrain gives the level that cooled lava feel. Since it is just that it's suppose to be rough and uneven. No way that can be done with a brush.
Static meshes give you great looking complex geometry w/o the normal overhead that goes with complex geometry.
The emitters on the tops and bottoms of the lava flows have to be there. If they were not there you see the nasty seams between the different parts that make up the flows.
I'll fix the glaring issues like the insta kill on the stairs, but mechanic wise I'm not/can not change them. Everything kinda goes hand in hand. This is why I scrapped the first version and made this new one.
This is a new map with Burning as the inspiration. Like any new map one has to learn it's idiosyncrasies.

Re: CTF-[MA]Burning
I like it! I don't even mind the under-the-stairs insta-death, but its probably a good idea to fix it. I like that there's no shortcut to the lower passages - it'd be interesting to see how that works with humans. The shortcuts from the upper areas above the lava falls are interesting - you can even jump down them if you work it right (though I haven't managed it with the flag yet - practice, practice, practice).
Nice work, Llev!!!

Re: CTF-[MA]Burning
Duh!!! That was sure obvious! Near as I can tell, it's not possible to drop the flag through there, since it seems to be some sort of teleport thingy instead of just an opening. Very nice! I'm on a Mac, so I can't open the editor and see what's really going on - I can just use "ghost" to fly around and see what I can see.
Also, I have managed to dodge through one the spikey opening from the upper level with the flag (carrying the flag appears to change your character height), but just once, with no bots, and it took a while. Unless there's a trick I'm not trying (very likely), that seems to be a rather 1337 maneuver.
How 'bout putting this up on your server, Llev? I'd like to see how it plays with humans. I suppose you're waiting until you fix the "Stairs of Death" issue, but even without that fix I like it.
Thanks, Llev!!!

Re: CTF-[MA]Burning
Yes that TL feature is only used on one other map (CTF-Chrome). Correct you can't bring the flag with you since you have to use the TL. It's a fun lil Actor in UEd. All it does is teleport the TL to a specific location (JumpSpot).
Hmmm the times I managed to dodge/jump off the upper bridges I ended up in the lava.
Oh and yes this version is on the server. I put it up on the same day.

I must have not seen it - probably forget to look under "M" instead of "B"... Thanks Llev!

Buzz wrong again...at the very bottom. You have to look under the "[".

No, Yahoo is great. They've just made some changes that I didn't keep up on. Looks that paying customers get all the bells and whistles. Well my lleviathann account is really a 'free' sub account. Seems that I need to use my main paid account from now on for file sharing.
