A.P.B. for Wireless Access Point users
Hey all,
To make a long story short, I have to set up a multiple-zone wired/wireless network that can handle AppleTalk traffic. One section of it will be a combination wired/wireless network that must tie wirelessly to another network elsewhere on the property, and AppleTalk must be able to pass back and forth between the two.
What I'm looking for is a reasonably priced, 802.11b wireless Access Point or Ethernet-to-Wireless Bridge that will establish a connection to another brand of wireless AP, can latch on to a particular SSID or MAC address (to avoid just automatically homing in on the strongest available signal), and will also allow AppleTalk through.
Some vendors' products just flat-out don't let AppleTalk through via wireless (LinkSYS comes to mind), but I'm sure that there are others that do....only I can't get any of them to admit it. I've scoured the Web and newsgroups looking for this sort of info, but have found very little.
So I am asking the MacAddict community: does anyone out there own or know of a wireless AP that works in infrastructure mode and will allow AppleTalk traffic? Please do not list wireless routers unless they can be configured for infrastructure; many of them cannot. If you could provide the model numbers as well as the brand names, that would be greatly appreciated!
Mahalo Nui Loa,
Andrew
